DOUBLE JEOPARDY |
1999 |
I stayed away from this, the highest-grossing blockbuster of the summer and early fall, because I knew that it was based on a faulty legal premise, and more importantly, that it would be completely predictable. Well, I was right, and I was wrong. It is mostly predictable, especially if you've seen the trailer, but it is also one of the most entertaining films this year. A scum of a husband fakes his own death, knowing that his wife will be blamed for it, and he can then collect the insurance. What he wasn't counting on was her premature parole and her transformation into the stalker from hell. There have been better directed films, and even better acted films this year(although Ashley Judd is excellent as the vengeful wife,)but it would be hard to find a film that is so thoroughly entertaining, from beginning to end. It's not a "chick flick" guys; go see it. You'll enjoy it. |
