DR. DOLITTLE 2

2001

If you enjoyed the first Dr. Dolittle, chances are you'll enjoy this one because its just more of the same. Once again, Eddie Murphy is the misunderstood doctor who has the gift of being able to talk to animals. Of course, this time the entire world knows of his gift and everyone is tolerant except his own family. There is a little of a Steven Segal-ish message weaved into the film about destroying forests and endangering wildlife, but its kind of half-assed attempt. The majority of the laughs don't come from Murphy or any of the human characters, but instead from the animals who actually seem to have much more developed personalities and human qualities than any of the actual humans in the film. Good for children, I'd say this one is maybe a rental.
