END OF DAYS |
1999 |
Arnold Schwarzeneggar (spelling? who knows?) returns to the big screen with yet another millennium, Y2K, religious thriller/horror/action flick. This one is pretty cliché; an alcoholic ex-cop who cannot get over the death of his wife and child (Arnold) finds redemption by going up against the antichrist (Gabriel Byrne) who, by the way, is trying to destroy the world. The story is both predictable and dumb. Could you actually beat the dark lord with a machine gun and a grenade launcher? On the plus side, however, the action is pretty good and so are the special effects, so if that's all you're interested in, this one could be for you. Gabriel Byrne does give a really great (and chilling) performance as Satan, but its not enough to save this one from mediocrity. |
