HOLLOW MAN |
2000 |
One of my theories on film is that any movie that stars Kevin Bacon (not in a supporting role, but as the star) is gonna be, ehh... not so good. Looks like I'm right again. HOLLOW MAN puts a modern day twist on the story of the invisible man with Bacon as the brash, obnoxious scientist who makes himself the human guinea pig and then goes crazy. Most of the acting is pretty bad highlighted by Elizabeth Shue doing her best Sigourney Weaver impersonation as she hunts down Bacon. The buzz around this film has been on special effects and while I thought the transition into the invisible man was incredible, the scenes where you can see Bacon invisible through smoke or water were lousy. Everything in this film is very explicit, including the unnecessarily gruesome violence, leaving nothing to the imagination. |
