KEEPING THE FAITH |
2000 |
Edward Norton is a priest, Ben Stiller is a rabbi and Jenna Elfman is the woman they both love in this very good film about love and faith. Norton is forced to question his commitment to the priesthood and Stiller is forced to carry-on in secret as Elfman is not Jewish. What results is a very funny, well written film that has a lot of good things to say. Norton does a nice job in his directorial debut and he is helped by strong performances by Stiller, Elfman, Milos Forman and Anne Bancroft. |

Once upon a time there were two young boys and a girl, who grew up to be a priest, a rabbi, and a businesswoman(no, it's not THAT joke!) After a lot of talk, and funny situations involving religion and sex, they all live happily ever after. What could have been just another clever Afternoon Special, is saved by the talent and loveable quality of such actors as Edward Norton(who also directed,) Jenna Elfman, Ben Stiller, Eli Wallach and Anne Bancroft. Incidentally, Manhattan was never filmed so lovingly before. |
