ME MYSELF I |
1999 |
This is one of those "What if?" films. First time director, Australian Pip Karmel, introduces us to Pamela #1, a single, career-minded, independent award-winning journalist who is contemplating suicide because she hasn't much of a love life. Soon after we've met her, she has an accident which shockingly puts her face-to-face with herself, as a married woman with a husband and three children. No sooner has she met Pamela #2, when Pamela #2 disappears leaving Pamela #1 to live her married-with-children life. Are you still with me? Each Pamela sort of resolves the problems of the other Pamela, and when they eventually revert back to their real selves, everyone lives happily ever after. An Ok film that Did leave me thinking, "Is there a Nick #2 out there somewhere, with grandchildren, a house in the suburbs, and a great set of titanium golf clubs?" |

This is a very simple, cutesy movie about a single woman who suddenly finds herself thrown into an alternate life in which she has gotten married, had children and become domesticated. It's basically a fairy tale that tries to answer the ever present "what if?" questioning we all do. A very nice, little movie with fine acting and some funny scenes, ME MYSELF I is the perfect rainy night video rental. |
