THREE KINGS |
1999 |
George Clooney, Mark Wahlberg and Ice Cube play three American soldiers who, in the aftermath of the Gulf War, raid an Iraqi bunker to steal millions in gold and wind up helping Iraqi citizens flee their war-torn country. Director David Russell presents us with a very quirky look at war and leaves us to wonder how much of it is really accurate. The film starts off strong with some good laughs and some action, but it turns boring and loses the audience. It definitely feels like the film is trying to make some pokes at how the US handled the whole Gulf War conflict, but I don't think that's why anyone would go to see this movie -not for its political commentary anyway. Overall, I think what Russell was trying to do was brilliant, but I don't think he got there. |
