For the following weeks, I prepared for my first promotional tour. It was hard to believe everything was happening so quickly. I told my boss about the whole singing thing, and he was thrilled. He told me to follow my dream. Although I wasn’t too sure this was my dream, I took his advice to heart. Mary had agreed to take care of my brother and sisters until I got things settled. It was particularly hard saying goodbye to them. After my parents died, I had promised to never leave them no matter what. And here I was, blatantly going against my word. But deep down, we all knew it was for the best. Besides, what did I have to lose anyway ?
When the big day finally arrived, I was to fly to L.A with the rest of the guys.
“I’ve never been to the City Of Angel’s before” I confessed giddily to Brian.
“It’s nice” Brian said droopily.
I smiled to myself as I watched Brian quickly drift off to sleep. The two of us had been up late the night before, chatting about everything under the sun. Gently, I crept by him and scurried over to the bathroom.
On my way back to my seat, I noticed a familiar head sitting alone and pensively peering out at the clouds. I took the empty seat next to him.
Sensing a presence, he turned to face me “Hey”
He looked a little depressed. “Are you Ok ?” I asked placing my hand on his.
“I’m great” Nick lied. “You exited?”
I shook my head “Nervous”
“Well don’t you worry” he said optimistically “Everything will turn out great”
“Thanks Nick” I said, planting a soft kiss on his cheek “I needed that”
Being rather tired myself, I soon fell asleep with my head on his shoulder.
Nick groaned lightly. Why did she have to smell so damn good? He kissed her on the top of her strawberry scented mane before drifting off in turn.
**Same Time**
“Anything the matter baby?” A.J asked noticing his girlfriends unusual behavior during the past few days.
“Nothing’s wrong Alex” she answered with one of those smiles that would melt his heart every time “Quit worrying about me”.
Quit worrying about her? Quit worrying about her? What kind of comment was that?
“Sweety, nature calls. I’ll be right back”
A.J watched as she made her way to the back of the plane. After losing sight of her, he let himself drop back in his seat. Rubbing his face in his hands, he couldn’t help but think about all the times she had gone to the washroom lately. At one point he even suspected that she could be pregnant, but that idea was quickly dismissed after she had asked him to pick up some tampons. That was the first time he’d ever been happy to do it! But if it wasn’t pregnancy, what else could it be?
**About an Hour Later**
After getting off the plane, we headed straight for the hotel. Nnbenounced to me, I was about to experience my first taste of Backstreet Mania. The second we stopped, our limo was flooded with screams.
Not being able to help myself, I peeked through the tainted window. The only thing I could see was girls. Girls as far as the eye could see...
“These are all your fans?” I gasped, slipping back next to them.
Nick shrunk back in his seat. “How the hell do they always find out where we’re staying?”
“Ok guys, this is what we’ll do” Kevin said huddling us up “I’ll get out first, then Brian, and then we’ll slip in Amanda and Eli. Hopefully, they won’t receive too much attention. Howie and A.J, you try to cover them”
Everyone nodded.
Before opening the door, Kevin turned back to me.
“And what ever you do, avoid letting them take pictures of you. Once they know what you look like, you’ll have trouble getting around... and worse”
I gulped. I couldn’t believe being with The Backstreet Boys could be so insane.
Soon, the door opened and we all bolted out in turn. Even though I was wearing a baseball cap, sun glasses, and kept my face to the ground, I was still blinded by the cameras. Even with Howie and A.J by my side and a security guard in front of me, it was nearly impossible to get through.
Once we got in, Brian took my hand and I was led me to the elevator.
“You alright?” Amanda asked, putting her arm around me.
Taking off my cap and glasses, I smiled “This is going to take some getting used to”
“Just wait till they’re here for you!” Howie winked.
Once we got out of the elevator, I told them I was tired and asked if I could be shown to my room.
“Our room” Brian stressed, snaking his arms around me.
“Uh-yeah” I went quietly.
After saying goodnight to the others, Brian and I went to our room.
Most people would have been impressed by it, but after living in a hotel for over two years, it lost all its glory.
It was a small room. Two lamps, two chairs, one table, one T.V, ONE bed! ! !
“Brian, there’s only one bed in here!” I remarked naively.
Brian grinned coyly “And the problem with that being...” and lay down on the bed.
“Bri...”
“Shh Come here”
Sitting down on the corner of the bed, he inched up behind me. Brushing my hair to one side, he slowly kissed his way up my neck. Not being able to contain myself, I let out a moan. Taking it as a hint, Brian got up on his knees and slipped his hot hand under my shirt and gently caressed my bare skin.
Right then, my eyes flew open and I jerked away.
“What’s wrong ?” Brian asked abruptly.
“Look Brian, I don’t know what you had planned for tonight, but count me out!” I scolded him.
Placing his hands on either side of him he looked at me apologetically “I-um-I-um, I’m sorry?”
Sighing, I rolled my eyed. “Don’t be” I said “I guess that I wouldn’t have made a difference if I wasn’t...” Realizing what I was just about to blurt out, I shut up.
“Wasn’t what?” Brian asked innocently.
I sat down on the corner of the bed and figured it was time to spill the beans “Brian I’m a virgin”.
Scrunching my face, I waited for a response.
“Brian ?”
“Yeah, I’m here” he said distantly.
“I knew that I shouldn’t have brought it up”
I felt his hand on my arm.
“I didn’t know” he said, pulling me towards him.
Looking at the floor, I felt him grab my arms.
“Hey! Look at me” he said firmly.
Reluctantly, I did as he asked.
Cupping my chin in his hand, he forced me face to him even more “I’d never make you do anything you weren’t ready for. Never”
I nodded.
"I just hope that I'm the person you want to be with when you’re ready"
said Brian with a grin.
