Below is an interview conducted by the author of the site with Scrappy Doo. It was done earlier this year. The topic is about the break up of the gang.
AN INTERVIEW WITH SCRAPPY-DOO
ME: Scrappy, although I like you, you aren't exactly the most beloved character in Hanna-Barbera history.
SCRAPPY: I'm tough. I can handle a few nay-sayers.
ME: Did this reaction to you come when you first joined on, or only after the gang broke up?
SCRAPPY: Hard to say. Your friend Nicole said she liked me up to the point the gang split up. I bet many are like that.
ME: Did you, in fact, break up the gang?
SCRAPPY: I liked the whole gang. I was happy with all of them - the more, the merrier, I say. I think people needed a scapegoat, so they pointed their fingers at me.
ME: Why did the gang break up?
SCRAPPY: Well, it was time for them to start pursuing careers. Fred became a writer, Velma started studying rocket science, and Daphne took journalism classes. That left just me, my Uncle Scooby, and Shaggy to roam around the world.
ME: So it was time for them to get on with their lives? That's what broke up the gang?
SCRAPPY: That, and an idea some Hanna-Barbera execs had that they weren't needed anymore. But it certainly wasn't my idea!
ME: Well, I hope this clears up some misconceptions about you. One more subject to cover. You idolize your Uncle Scooby, but some people say he is really cowardly.
SCRAPPY: Cowardly? Who said that? Why, I'll splat 'em!
ME: No one specific. It's just a general observation.
SCRAPPY: Why, once when I was nabbed by some Viking baddie, Uncle Scooby came sailing through the air on a rope, and saved me. There are countless examples I could give of Uncle Scooby's bravery. I say to those who claim he's cowardly - how would you react in the same situation? I bet you'd run away screaming.
ME: I know I would. Thank you for your time, Scrappy, and I wish for your future success.
