Army of Darkness

Oh hail to the king of all comedic horror, baby. Army of Darkness shows Ash at his one-liner, chainsaw-wielding best. What a stud. I mean really, I just can't take my eyes off of that square jaw.

Ths story is, like anyone doesn't already know, Ash is whisked away to England's Dark Ages and is caught between two rival gangs...or something to that effect. To get back to his own time he must find the book, drink the juice, and say the magic words but with Ash, this is no easy task. Because he fucks up the words some seriously bad voodoo goes down and he must eventually help save the world from the army of Deadites and the doppleganger he spawned. In the greatest fight scene ever captured on screen, Ash must do battle against "Bad Ash" and save his chick from the grips of evil.

This flick is great. Ash is the Elvis of horror/comedy. The effects are both cheesy and effective. The original ending is a bit different than the S-Mart semi-conclusion but I can dig both. In S-Mart, Ash is the square-jawed, conquering hero, with a gun in his hand and a chick at his side. In the original, Ash is the out-of-luck, square-jawed idiot who'd sleep through eternity. Both are very Ash-ish and serve well as Army of Darkness/Evil Dead endings...or could they be yet another begining? Anyway, I'm hip to both except that S-Mart has Ted Raimi...he's so cute.
