Random thoughts from 20th Century Fox Mexico Theatrical's Marketing Director.
Entry for August 27, 2007

I just realized I permanently bumped my original web site's homepage to make space for this blog. At first it looked terrible, but in the end I realized it's not so bad... I think there were about 4 persons who visited my homepage since it was created 6 years ago, so no big loss (besides I still have the original files). But this made me think about how we postpone stuff which we end up never doing. It took a huge effort and a really ridiculously long amount of time which won't be mentioned out of embarrassment for me to finish writing and finally auto-publishing my first novel (The Transylvanians, available through www.lulu.com if you haven't gotten it yet). There were also the planned "updatings" of my above mentioned website which seldom happened (the last films I promoted through it were LXG and Hulk -before seeing it, obviously, because it SUCKED big time!)so you make the math; and then there was another website I created for a fictional action hero which you can still visit at www.geocities.com/rexbiblbrox . The idea of that one was for it to be interactive. People voted on what would happen in the following installment... and guess what, the story is still waiting for installment number 2 after five years.

Oh, my.

Then there are countless short fiction stories and the telling of what happened to my wife and I when we moved to, and returned from, Miami  after six months of living there as residents, all sitting in the back of my head waiting for me to have time to write and wishing I won't forget the most important details... oh, and a comic strip based on the Classic Universal Monsters... the designs were made, the strip wasn't.

In my case the good part is, even though my creativity has been victim of apparent procrastination, other life projects have become tangible during these years. I've managed to grow personally, academically and professionally, I have 2 great kids, I've traveled a bit...  A lot of accomplishments, thankfully, but this doesn't mean I don't feel bad about what has been left behind. Some projects will get done, some may not. Sometimes we need to choose, but the big point here is: DO SOMETHING, if you leave projects behind, you need to have something of equal or larger value to show for it, otherwise you're wasting precious time (which if you haven't realized yet, doesn't come cheap). You should stop to smell the flowers once in a while, but that shouldn't be your main activity. Life's too short.
