Random thoughts from 20th Century Fox Mexico Theatrical's Marketing Director. | ||||||
Entry for April 18, 2008
It's been quite a while since I had written anything on my blog. And it's not that I didn't have things to say, it's just that time didn't allow for me to work on this. I'm a bit rusty and need a start-up, and unfortunately I do not have a very important topic to discuss today, so I'll go with speaking about one of my latest experiences releasing the local Mexican movie Under the Same Moon (La Misma Luna). I do not want to digress about the process, rather than on how we've witnessed how some people start getting successful and suddenly lose their path. It's been amazing to watch the process (I'm not going to mention names) of people that suddenly decide just because they are getting some attention and they are part of something successful, that they can order people around and demand star treatment. Worst of all, they get rude when they don't get it. The other side of the coin has been working with seasoned professionals who've been on this road for a long time, know how hard it is to have ONE success and how far appart they are, as well as how fickle fame and attention can be. But I guess the real difference has been EDUCATION. You can tell when somebody has been educated, is polite, and no matter how successful or how much attention they get, they are still nice (even if stressed or tired). That's the key: a lot of famous people are not necessarily educated people (and I'm not talking about school, but manners, being polite and respectful). And I could tell you NAMES, but this being an open blog and me still working with some of the people we've encountered, I'd rather keep that to myself. But it's not hard to figure it out, most of the time (there is one particular HUGE exception) talent that behave in a polite, professional way, are the ones that usually see their careers constantly growing and stay around for a long time. I wish talented people realized this, but I guess that's something you either get when you are a small kid or you don't. Let's blame the parents, everybody else does. 2008-04-18 14:21:36 GMT
