This movie was a disappointment in my mind. I expected more. That's not to say that the movie was bad, heavens no. It's just I thought it would be better. Yes, there was a little bit of humor, a little bit of action, but it was mostly drama. And it wasn't the touching, tangible, real-life drama that I like. Instead, it was filled with every cheap cry they could think of. There were cheesey, fabricated emotional scenes, that were created intentionally just to pull at your heart strings. The acting was good, and the special effects were sort of impressive. And besides the INCREDIBLE unlikelyhood that ANY of this film would happen, there were many mistakes in what they did do. They tried their best to cover for it, but still some stuff didn't make sense. Even if you can get past the whole idea of the asteroid heading for us and NASA sending people with NO experience and practically no training into space to save us, there are still the ridiculously unbelievable scenes like when he stops the boosters and flies across the asteroids version of the Grand Canyon. However, even with all of this criticism, I liked the movie. What can I say, I'm a sucker. I thought the acting was good, and even though they were cheap cries, they worked. So, I'd say yeah sure, go out and see it, BUT there are much better films out this summer.
