I am amazed every time I hear someone say they don't know who John Hughes is. Although his most recent movies have been less than wonderful, he is the KING of the classic eighties movies. Does Some Kind of Wonderful, Pretty in Pink, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, 16 Candles, Uncle Buck or this movie, The Breakfast Club ring a bell? Well, they're all his doing. Now, I must say he does a wonderful job of relating to teenagers. It's as though he can peer inside their minds and write it all down. This movie is quite fun and has some great quotable lines. I must criticize it by saying that if Judd Nelson had not done such a wonderful acting job the movie would've been just blah, if that. There are definately slow parts to the film and one of those EXTREME quick resolutions at the end where everything miraculously works out in a period of less than 5 minutes. The two strongest acting jobs, and this might be because they had the best roles, are, of course, Judd Nelson as "The Criminal" and Anthony Michael Hall as "The Brain". The principal also does an excellent job of playing one of those men who stop and ask themselves when did they become the enemy? I do believe this movie is worth watching, if only for Judd Nelson. Hang out with your friends, be a slacker, eat foor that isn't good for you and just hang.  Enjoy and relax!
