I saw the previews and knew I had to see this movie.  For starters, it has Edward Norton, whom I love.  Secondly, it's directed by Edward Norton, whom I love.  And then there's Jenna Elfman and Ben Stiller who aren't too shabby either.  Just joking.  It's a great cast all around.  It even has one of my all-time favorite actresses, Anne Bancroft, star of The Miracle Worker and The Graduate.

This is a cute story about three friends.  One's a rabbi, one's a priest, and the other is the girl they're both in love with.  Now, the reason why the movie didn't get a better grade is because there are a lot of slow parts and since there are two guys and only one girl, you know that one's not gonna' be too happy at the end of the movie.  Therefore, it kinda brings it down a bit.

What saved the movie is the unbelievable on screen chemistry between these three young actors, especially Stiller and Norton.  They seem like they've been friends since they were little kids.  Also the comic scenes are rolling on the floor funny.  I laughed out loud numerous times, which I never do.  Even the scenes that you've seen in previews aren't ruined because you've already seen part of them, i.e. when Norton's priest robes catch on fire.

We already knew that Stiller and Elfman had a good feel for comedy but Norton, who is fairly new to the genre, showed good timing, physical humor and facial expressions that help the movie immensely.  Ben Stiller, as always, was good, as was Jenna Elfman.

What this movie needed was improvement in the dramatic scenes.   They bring you down too much from the high of the comic scenes.  Not to mention you feel almost too sorry for pathetic, hapless Norton.

Not a bad job for Norton's try at directing.  All in all, this movie is entertaining, a good date movie, a good rental, but nothing to run out and see.
