Well, even though the original Parent Trap annoys the hell out of me now, I remember adoring it as a kid. So I thought I'd see this and compare the two. I found this version to be a delightful update on the old one. Some of the scenes are practically verbatum. And the few changes that they did have, I thought were improvements. The main change, which was fantastic in my opinion:  the young girl playing the twins. A huge improvement over Haley Mills in the original. In this film the girl has an american and british accent, which makes sense considering one is from London and the other is from California. In the original, you have two girls (Haley Mills and Haley Mills) both with British accents and one is from California and the other, not from London, but Boston. So, where did they get the accents? Your guess is as good as mine. I also liked the housekeeper better in this one. I liked the fact that mean grandmother was removed. However, the one thing that doesn't make a whole lot of sense unless you've seen the first one, is the banging of the sticks to scare away mountain lions. I think they must've edited the explanation out. Whoops! But all in all, I thought it was a charming film.
