Well, for those of you who've read my reviews before and know my own personal taste, you know that I am not a big fan of dark comedies. I must say that Quentin Tarentino is the only director that I can stand in that genre. This movie, I thought, lacked the humor that Pulp Fiction had though. Pulp Fiction was packed with scenes that had amazing human interaction. Reservoir Dogs seemed only to have scenes of human interaction for pure shock value. They weren't even funny, atleast I didn't think so. Marvin getting his head blown off in Pulp Fiction was funny because of the dialog between John Travolta and Samuel L. Jackson, the cop getting his ear cut off in this movie was just in poor taste in my opinion and if it was meant to be funny, it wasn't executed well. Tarentino does have a knack for breaking your basic run of the line movie formula. He is one of the few people that can get away with it though. I wasn't overly impressed by any of the acting mainly because I think the characters needed more development. The only character that I thought was truely developed and had Tarentino's signature dark humor was Mr. Pink. His few dialogs in the movie, including the tipping scene were the only high points to the movie. I am a real fan of Tim Roth and I thought this was a waste of his talent. The movie was just basically one big dying scene for him. How long can we keep him in pain seemed to be the central theme. I would however watch the movie again for those shining moments by Mr. Pink. Those scenes are the only scenes that seem to have that true Tarentino look at life.
