I cry pretty easy during films. And being that this is a Steven Spieberg film, I expected to shed some tears. However, I wasn't expecting to start crying 15 minutes into the movie and not stop throughout. I thought this film was exactly what our generation needed. Movies in the past have sugar-coated World War II. This does a disservice not only to the veterans and the people who lost their lives, but also to us who haven't been in a war and don't really have a grasp of what it's like. This film shows you that it is hell on earth. Unlike the past Vietnam movies that showed you the darker side of war, this film also touches the human side of it too. People aren't black and white. They are human and you, like a soldier really in a war, don't know what's going to happen next. You are thrown into the battles right from the beginning. I did think the film was slow at times, but I think it was warranted.  I will not watch this film again though.  I was so moved after the film that I cried after I got home. I don't really want to depress myself that much again, although I think it was good that I see it atleast once. I think you all should too.
