Well everyone has been eagerly awaiting the sequel to Scream and it has arrived. Oh joy. That was sarcasm in case you missed it. Actually I was looking forward to this movie. The original movie was creative, witty, and had a key element to a successful thriller that the sequel was missing...the "could this really happen" factor. The more a movie makes an audience believe that the events taking place on the screen could actually take place in life the better the movie. I found this movie boring. It relied on virtually the same formula as the first one, including the motive, famous person disappearing act in the first few minutes, the "Did Cotton Weary Kill Someone?" question, etc. C'mon people!!!! We want originality. The problem with using the old formula is that what everyone liked about the first Scream was its creativity. This one relies on old ideas. The one part of the movie that was good were the returning characters of Randy and Dewey. Their humor brought relief to the movie. The acting was fine the actors just needed a good script. Overall, I'd say don't go out of your way for it. But, because it uses an old but VERY CREATIVE formula you might want to watch it if you're flipping past the channels and happen to come across it.
