Well, we waited and waited and finally it came. I had seen previews for this movie months in advance before it was released and had heard about production of it even before that. I of course had to get the ultimate viewing experience by seeing it in a stadium theater. That had both good and bad effects however. The awesome size of the screen I saw it on not only showed the AMAZING effects during the sinking of the ship but it also showed a few special effects mistakes during the regular course of the movie. For example, because the boat was not a real boat it was not ever out at sea, therefore they had to use computer imaging to make scenes look like they were at sea. Before the actual sinking, the effects are actually quite nappy. The sunsets and backgrounds are completely unbelievable and at times you can see that the computer generated people have no faces. But, I am just being picky. The sinking effects are UNMATCHED in the movie industry. I was in awe. OK, enough about the effects, how was the acting? Well, I was worried at first about how the movie was cast. Billy Zane, Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio are all supposed to be about the same age. Billy Zane appears to be in early 30's to me, Kate Winslet looks to be in her late 20's and Leonardo looks to be in early 20's. However, the pulled it off. All they really needed was to make Leonardo more mature and Kate more immature, which they did. They did a wonderful job. I walked out of the theater not quite sure how I felt about the movie for one reason; it had been SO real during the sinking that it was kind of disturbing to see so many people die. I have given myself time to seperate it from real life though and must commend the makers, actors, and technicians on a wonderful movie. Why didn't it get a 4 then?  Well, contrary to what some people might tell you.  I don't think the story was that good.  Winslet comes off looking kind of slutty.   You have to REALLY buy into the fact that they're soul mates in order to dismiss the fact that she sleeps with this guy she's known for only 2 or 3 days.  Anyway, the love story is ok, but nothing spectacular.  This movie is worth it just for the special effects.
