I wasn't really looking forward to seeing this film. It seemed as though it was going to
be just like all the other teeny-bopper movies that have spun off of the hit t.v. show
Dawson's Creek. And we all know how bad those have been. Another part that made the movie
THAT much more unappealing was seeing that James Van Der Beek was going to have a southern
accent. I couldn't express to you how annoying the trailer was becoming every time I had
to hear, "I don't wunt yur laf". But, my friends eventually dragged me to go and
see it. I've noticed that my feeling after I leave a movie doesn't necessarily depend on
how good the movie was but how good it was in comparison to what I was expecting. Because
of this I think I liked this movie a lot more than I should have. Therefore I lowered my
grade to compensate. I thought it was an ok sports movie and I thought, although it was
EXTREMELY exaggerated, that the film effectively captured Texas' obsession with football.
It was not all that plausible but still enjoyable. Acting was ok. And I think that's a
sufficient term to describe the entire movie. It's ok. And I mean that in a good way. I
think that it's of course aimed at a younger audience. I think that it might hit a little
too close to home for some people raised in fanatic football worlds. However, some people
may find it outlandish. Basically, I think this movie was formulaic (all the way down to
it's clapping scene) but it did show some signs of creativity which make the movie worth
watching.
