Some wicked stuff from the current era
The Minibosses are a hella-cool band from Arizona. They play hard rock versions of '80s VIDEO GAME SONGS. No, you aren't dreaming. If you were, you'd probably wake up with morning wood. Their versions of the music from NES classics such as Contra, Castlevania, Wizards and Warriors, and Rygar were the best thing to come out in 2000 (Well, besides the new Armored Saint album. Of course going up against Armored Saint is like going up against Unicron.) Awhile back, they did a show with The Fucking Champs, who wrote a song about the NWOBHM.
The Breezeway is a damn good alternative band. They are out of either Portsmouth or Salem, Ohio depending on if classes are happening at Shawnee State. Bebop on over to their mp3.com page and buy a CD and/or multiple CDs. They've got songs about drugs, women, being pissed off and Indians. All they need is a song about Satan and they're set. Not only that, but they teamed up with me to create the ultimate Black Sabbath cover band.
Yes! REAL METAL LIVES! No baritone guitars, no straight-edger haircuts, and no rapper cameos. How about galloping riffs and classic metal imagery instead? You are learning well reader-san. Plus, I interviewed the emperor of Iced Earth, John Schaffer, which was all right. They've even enlisted THE RIPPER for vocal duties.
Jesus H. Christ! Vomitron shreds, crunches, harmonizes and does all of the things that a band is supposed to do. Words cannot adequately describe Vomitron's music, but here's and idea of what's going on: | Maiden + Yngwie + Mr. Bungle + Helloween + Megadeth + Korn + NES + Synths + Slayer + Meshuggah gets you about 10% there. Vomitron has covered the Contra and Ghostbusters themes and has an extremely healthy body of originals. All of them will positively murder the idiot sitting next to you at a traffic light that is blasting whatever rap song is popular this week. |
