For an already sexy Goddess, Peorth sure is vain. But that doesn't mean she doesn't qualify to be a Goddess First Class. Far from it, Peorth wants to be the best Goddess there is by simply wanting to help all us mortals out with our wishes (if we ever qualify). Of course, she does tend to get carried away when she gets enthusiastic about something, and granting wishes is one. Be careful.

So far, we don't see Peorth as much of a main character. Mostly because she's only appeared recently, but she is most probably here to stay as a main character. As the fourth Goddess to appear in the series, Peorth is summoned by Keiichi as a result of a misdialed number and resolves to stay around Keiichi for that reason, and because she loves him. However, the feeling isn't mutual and Keiichi ends up trying to get Peorth away from him by trying for a wish he really wants, while Peorth tries to get him to feel for her through methods devious and scary. In the end, however, Keiichi settles for the ultimate wish.
For her to grant him his heart's desires.
You'll have to read the rest of the manga for yourself to find out.

It seems that Peorth wears that kind of clothing for a reason. She appears to be quite a daring Goddess, very hentai or close to it. As a result, she'd probably wear clothes even Urd would consider inappropiate (and we all know how she thinks.), although she's every little bit as beautiful in a normal dress as one could expect of a Goddess. Her dress code thus appears to be a mix of anything and everything that go well together. Who's complaining though?

Being around for only a short time, we don't know the extent of Peorth's powers and what her alternate source of energy would be, but up to volume 16 we can see that she is very powerful, and the fastest flyer in Heaven (Asgaard, actually.).
However, some people tend to think that she's all looks and power but no brains. Not true. She certainly is eccentric enough though, seeing she "learns" everything about love and relationships through mangas (although I wouldn't call that weird.) and when she gets enthusiastic, as mentioned before, she becomes dangerous, downright scary (in that sense) or both.
Considering her penchant for following manga ideas as her own, Peorth definitely strikes us as unusual, although that could be put down to simple innocence when it comes to relations. We don't see Peorth having ever had a past lover (not that we would this early in her appearance) nor do we see her having past experience in dealing with men she's had an interest in. She certainly shows that clearly enough.

We do know that Peorth runs her own Goddess Help Centre, known as the Earth Otasuke Centre, run by (apparently) her alone. She decorates it with roses and rose petals. It appears the Centre opened only recently in the manga as of book 11.

So, let's all wish Peorth lots of luck in finding herself a true love, shall we? She's certainly earned the right to be adored by people just for being her zany, but loveable self.

A case study of Peorth's name.
For those of you familiar with the manga and have been observant enough, you may have noticed the runic symbol representing Peorth's name all over the place, from her chair (at the start) to her panty's behind (hey, don't look at me like that!). Some of you might not know what it means.
While other sites already have a description on Peorth's origin of name and its meaning, here's my two cents.
Apparently Kosuke Fujishima-sama has done some very complete research into Peorth's character. He has done quite a marvellous job of mixing the rune's properties into the manga itself. Whether intentionally or not, it certainly makes interesting research material. ^_^
For those new to the runic system, each rune carries several meanings with their affiliated uses, both in culture and writing. They also have precious stones and plants assigned to them, again with more symbolic meanings. But to explain them all would take forever. (Which may be Peorth's Domain!)
Each rune has two sides, Upright and Inversed. Normally Inversed runes will have the opposite meanings of the Upright rune.
Considering that Belldandy, Urd and Skuld are all from Nordic Goddesses, it's no surprise Peorth's name is rooted in Norse culture.

Peorth Upright - A fortunate omen; disclosure of a secret; unexpected gains; sexual compatibility; illness that is unresponsive to normal treatments; strong intuitive or occult ability.
Peorth does, indeed, come as an "omen", although not very fortunate, in book 16 of the manga. The fact that a powerful Goddess like her can be felled brings a dangerous sense of foreboding into play.

Peorth also discloses a secret to Keiichi, her love for him. Being a first class Goddess, she cannot lie.

Peorth has an unexpected gain as well. At the end of book 11, Peorth while having failed at winning Keiichi over, has the unexpected pleasure of having her final plan of walking by the seaside in a sunset fulfiled.

Peorth is just oozing sexual compatibility to men everywhere, quite obviously. However, a paradox here is that Keiichi does not consider himself compatible with her despite her insistence that she is, indeed, the Goddess for him.

If we look at the events in book 16 objectively, we can say that a normal Goddess is the normal treatment for a demon like Velsper, the demon doublet-linked to Belldandy (more info in the Case Study and FAQ segment.). However, she proves ineffective, and when time starts to degenerate, we see that the "normal" Goddesses of Past and Future are also ineffective in "curing" it.

Another view about her comparison to "illness that is unresponsive to normal treatments" could be her love sickness. No matter how much Urd and the others try to convince her that Keiichi is already Belldandy's and Peorth can never have him, her "sickness" refuses to respond to such conventional tactics. In the end, her only cure would be the fulfilment of the wish which she wants Keiichi to make, to say that he wants her to grant his deepest desire. (Which is, in her own mind, another matter from what Keiichi truly wants.) Finally however, Keiichi and Belldandy themselves can prove to Peorth that she cannot have Keiichi and thus her love sickness/illness is cured by the most unconventional of means. A true wish.

Peorth doesn't exactly have intuitive abilities though. Far from it, she doesn't have much foresight at all. When meddling with Urd's pills, she failed to realize that mixing it with the drink would change its effects. Another paradox. Probably a reversed rune meaning.

In occult, perhaps we can look at the Manga of the world. ^_^ They certainly have enough of a following to be considered occult. *laugh* She "foretells" the results of her attempts with Keiichi using her manga's plans, although it doesn't work to some extent.

Peorth Reversed - Disappointments; financial losses; disappointment in love; unwise experimentation with the occult.
Peorth is disappointed at the end of the 11th book, as we can see, for not having won Keiichi over. End of study here.

In a paradox, Kosuke-sama seems to have turned financial losses into gains, for as we saw in the manga, instead of spending money visiting the attractions of the local area, Belldandy managed to get entrance tickets from all manner of people for them, thus saving Keiichi much money yet at the same time having him benefit from it, as a result of Peorth's interference.

Concerning disappointment in love, see above.

Peorth certainly follows unwise experimentation with the occult to the letter. Using the example of manga being the occult force, Peorth experiements with all sorts of ideas found in the mangas she reads with all sorts of unpredictable results with rather disasterous, if not hilarious, results.

Other Meanings - Skill; chance; fate; birth; moderation; good sense. Rebirth, mystery, magic, divination, fertility, sexuality, new beginning, prophecy.
The ability of introspection and self awareness.
Relationship Interpretation - Hidden aspects within the relationship.
Although not all the properties in here apply to Peorth, I'll see what I can come up with.

Peorth's skills are certainly very good, but only when it comes to her job. She boasts both power and control over her Goddess abilities, as seen when Urd, Skuld and her messed up Belldandy's spell in retrieving the lost papers. (If you're new, go read the manga!)

Was it chance or fate that caused Peorth to come to Keiichi's house? We see that she, knowing the threat Velsper posed, went to protect Keiichi in book 16, although she might have done so even if she hadn't known him. However, this all seems very... coincidental....

I'm not sure if Birth is anything to go by. But Peorth seems very anxious to have sex (censored for content) with Keiichi..... *ahem* We all know what that means.

In what seems to be the inversed meaning for Peorth's rune, she has anything but good sense and moderation. At least, not when she took up the bet for "Most Useful Goddess" with Urd and Skuld did she show those two traits. Yet, she has enough sense to tell Urd and Skuld to refrain from interrupting Belldandy's spell, and enough control over her power to use in moderation.

Concerning rebirth, maybe it's when she returned to protect Keiichi after being knocked straight out of the sky by Velsper, and out cold? Another probability is explained below in "new beginnings and Prophecies".

We do know Peorth is quite mysterious. Why set up an Earth Otasuke Centre when there's already a Goddess Help Office? Is there life out there Kami-sama created too?

Peorth certainly uses magic and divination as part of her job, although her "divination" is of the naive kind.

Peorth simply oozes fertility and sexuality to every man that sees her, as does Urd and to a much lesser extent, Belldandy. I don't have to explain this to you, do I?

For new beginnings and Prophecies, as mentioned before in Omens, Peorth brings very bad news when she is felled by the mysterious light dashing around in the sky. Perhaps Peorth's appearance brings its own share of beginnings in the AMG! world that we have yet to see. However, we see some "new" beginnings. The evolution of the obvious side of the relationships between Belldandy and Keiichi, and Belldandy and Peorth.
It can be guessed that once someone professes their love for someone else, their relation will never be the same. As is the case for Belldandy and Keiichi, while they know they love each other, when Belldandy announces her love for Keiichi, things can be expected to take a turn into the beginning of a truly serious relationship. Read the manga to see what I mean.
Between Peorth and Belldandy, we realize the reason for the rivalry between them and the rekindling of their old friendship after the clearing up of a misunderstanding, a rebirth of their friendship as one can call it. It's not obvious, but it's there.

The ability for introspection and self awareness are difficult to explain. But since this is a case study, I'll try.
Peorth isn't stupidly stubborn of course, as we can see. As introspection is the study of oneself in several aspects, it can be said that Peorth eventually reflects upon her success and failure with catching Keiichi's heart and is aware that she is unable to win him away from Belldandy. Self-awareness, of course plays its part in her realization that there are qualities in her that will never help her win Keiichi over.

Finally, the hidden meaning in relations. The development of the relationship between Peorth and Keiichi is unknown. It might be considered a secret, although the appearance of Peorth brings an unexpected gain, mentioned above in new "beginnings and Prophecies". We see everything in here is related to one another, and remember that Peorth was holding secret her reason for having such a bad relation with Belldandy with her until near the end of book 11.
