Math Class

As I lie in the stillness, I slowly become aware of my surroundings. I feel the cool air against my skin, but soon realize that there is no breeze. I deduct that I must be indoors. Yes, indoors, and I can sense other people around me, though I cannot see them, for my eyes are closed. I feel myself in a hunched-over position and realize that I am sitting on a flat surface with my legs hanging down and coming to rest on the floor. I silently lift my head and open my eyes. I see that there are more people in the room, most sitting in the same position as myself. Of those who are not staring blankly into space, most of them seem to have their attention focused on a man standing behind a desk. The man is droning on and on about the square root of the hypotogram being equal to some distance between the vertex of a leg and the other leg opposite of the polynart. The man then turns toward me and says, "Maybe you would find detention a little more interesting." I am not sure if this is a statement or a question, but I feel the eyes of the people beating down on me, waiting for a response. Therefore, I retort, "Uh, yeah, maybe." But the man has already gone back to his ramblings and is completely oblivious to my response. I find no further need to squander any more energy on staying awake, and lay my head back down, wiping the small puddle of drool with my sleeve as I do so.
