MY STARSAILOR... | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Well come along and walk with me And learn the songs that lovers sing When they believe We'll dance along the river's edge Just arm and arm along the moonlit shore The midnight cries Well I just came to chase the blues away For awhile... |

Chase The Blues Away, Tim Buckley
Tim Buckley had the most beautiful singing voice I have ever heard. The first time I was lucky enough to hear it was in 1986, while watching a re-run of The Monkees television show. Mickey Dolenz introduced him and he sang a haunting, ethereal song called Song To The Siren. I immediately sensed I was listening to something very special and since then I've (at times almost obsessively) collected most of his recordings. This page is my tribute to a virtually unknown musical genius. |

Tim Buckley died at only 28 years of age of a heroine overdose in 1975, but not before releasing nine albums in his short nine year career. His son Jeff Buckley burst on the musical scene in 1994. His album Grace has some of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. Tragically, Jeff (whom I actually met after a club date in Toronto in 1994) drowned at the age of 30 in 1997, leaving behind so much potential. Both were great losses to music.

"Tim Buckley was small - 'This little man' as he said in one of his slow sly seducer's songs. He was small and white and a mild mannered LA folkie, but he has bequeathed our century some of its most elemental, experimental - and incomparibly sexy - songs...When he died he was 28 and he left behind more work - and more behind in his work - than most people manage in a normal span," Ian Penman, The Wire, April 1994
As I die I can't remember Where I saw the rain: Could it be that her laughter Drove me down again? I've been gone too long Now I'm home to stay Please don't leave me again this way Please come home |

I 've been searchin' for the dolphins in the sea, Ah, but sometimes I wonder, will you ever think of me... |
