Rex: Welcome back to another edition of The Shoot. Seated next to me is none other thsn Rebel, the man that the fans voted as XWA Rookie of the Year just yesterday! Welcome Rebel, and congratulations.
Rebel: Thanks for havin' me, and thanks to the fans for the award, it really means alot.
Rex: Onto the questions then, shall we?
Rebel: Certainly.
1. How did you first break into the business?
Well Rex, the XWA is my first ever fed! I have always been a fan of the XWA, what with living in Chicago an' all, and as you might have heard
before, I was a huge Truth fan, obviously not the case these days. Well
anyway, I was living basically in poor appartements, and I had no money,
just working for some indie feds. So when the XWA came to my part of
Chicago, I attended the event, and showed the booker my indie tape, and
spoke with them about doing some ring set-up work or some basic wrestling
work like jobbing in dark matches. Little did I know that soon, I would be
the lightweight champ of the fed!!!
2. Did anybody train you?
No, nobody really trained me, I am a self trained guy. I learnt most of
the
moves by studying tapes of Jushin Liger and the Great Sasuke from Japan,
and
also tapes of Shawn Michaels, and then practising the moves in my back
yard.
3. How did you get in contact with the XWA?
As I said before, I turned up at a house show and showed the booker and
talent relations people some tapes from my indie fed work, after being
recommend by my good friend an current XWA wrestler Trash Can Jim.
4. Who do you consider your personal kliq in the lockeroom?
Well, I suppose it would have to be the XWA's newest tag team,
[}i$or[}eR,
TCJ and Drill, and also Axel Kage, a guy who recently left the XWA. Drill,
Kage and I go way back.
5. Who do you consider working in the ring the best?
In ring...I would say TrAuMa, the guy who ended my lightweight title
reign.
His high-flying style is a lot like mine, I think he'll go far in the XWA.
He also has great mic work too, which is a good bonus.
6. When you first entered in the XWA, did any of the XWA veterans help
you
out or give you any advice?
Yeah, Calvin Krime helped me out a lot in the early going, he gave me a
lot
of tips and advice on making it in this business.
7. You think that with Devin Borgir gone, that the XWA let go of a great
talent in the business?
Absolutely! You know, despite Devin being involved with the 'fake
Slipknot'
business and the murder of Justin Santiago, he still was a great talent,
and
I respected him for that. Me and Dev have a history in the ring, and if he
ever decides to come back to the XWA, I wouldn't mind meeting him in the
squared cirlce one time, as I think we have a great in-ring chemistry.
8. Do you think that since you left the WAC-PAC, that it will help you
elevate to main event status?
Yeah, I think so. It was a hard desicion to leave, and they are all great
guys, both in-ring and out. However, I think that as part of a group, you
cannot focus on your own personal goals in the business, and being a
team-player holds you back a bit, so I decided to go solo to accomplish my
own goals, but I wouldn't mind meeting up again in the future.
9. How did you feel about the WWA invasion in the XWA, and the creation
of
the WWX?
At first I thought it was terrible for the XWA, as the WWA wrestlers would
come in and assume the main roles in the company, but after seing how it
has
turned out, I like the idea very much. While on camera, I hate no-one more
than the WWX, off camera, I have spoken to all the 'invaders', and they
are
pretty cool. I love the XWA/WWX angle, and I love working in the ring with
Phantom, so I hope it continues.
10. What was your thoughts on the death of Justin Santiago?
I thought it was a dark day not just for the XWA, but for the whole
sports-entertainment business as a whole. The people involved, (the fake
Slipknot) did not realise that they were taking what was a wrestling
angle,
too far, much too far. I hope these 9 men learn that while they spend the
rest of their sorry lives in prison.
11. If the WWA reopens again, would you jumpship if your contract ran
out?
I can't believe you're asking me this question! If you didn't interperate
that as an answer, let me spell it out for ya - O-H H-E-L-L N-O! Catch
my
drift?
12. Here are some opinions on people and things:
)The XWA - Great fed, the only one I have come across that will give
a
5'8", 185lbs kid a chance near the top of the card.
)The WWA - Ahh, the XWA's bitter rival. I never really caught much
of
it's programming, but from what I've heard, it could not hold a candle to
the XWA.
)Thw WAC-PAC - Great bunch of guys, a cool stable of
revolutionaries,
who won't take no for an answer. They helped me get my break into the top
of
the card, but now they've pretty much split up, so thanks for the
memories...
)The WAC-offs - One of the greatest tag teams to grace an XWA ring,
and it was an honor to share a stable with them. It's a pity Little C had
to
ruin their legacy by spliting them up in that way. I know he was pissed
off,
but hell, couldn't him and Wiz talk about it?
)Little C - I have a personal dislike of this guy. He breaks up the
team that brought him to the dance in the first place, which goes a long
way
to disbanding the stable that I was affiliated with. It looks like he's
out
for a while with an injury, but C, get well soon, so the WAC-PAC can kick
yo
ass!
)Justin Santiago - I never really got to know Justin backstage, but
he
was a great athlete in the ring, and unfortunately got lumbered in a
storyline with a group of psychos who took it too far, and ultimately his
life was taken by the same guys he was feuding with in the ring. R.I.P
Justin Santiago
)Tokyo Enterprise - A bunch of jackasses! They are true XWA legends,
ie, Swiss Alps, Aussie Wave, but still jackasses who tried to run us out
of
the XWA! At least now they are defunct...
)Prez Tokyo - Although I never got on with the Prez on-screen,
off-screen he is a great guy, who has given me tons of advice - a great
president for the company.
)Doc O'Leary - Doc is a great guy too, who from day one in the XWA
has
helped me develop my mic work and persona. Thanks for the help Doc - the
Rebel would not have made it this far without your help!
Where do you see Rebel in the near future?
Hopefully standing atop a mound of fallen WWX carcasses after topling them
singlehandedly! No,seriously, I hope to finally face HM in the ring, and
also to gain my first win over Phantom...oh yeah, I think only one phrase
is
apt enough to close this interview...
