The Planet Saturn
"the Planet sixth in order from the sun, and surrounded by large rings of matter floating in space"--Dictionary of Contemporary English, Longman

"Bands of subtle colour- yellows, browns, greys- distinguish the differences in the clouds over the second-largest planet in the solar system"-- The Straits Times

"Saturn was the most distant planet to be recognized by early skywatchers. The earliest written records of Saturn come form Mesopotamia. They go back to 650 BC. When ancient astronomers gazed at Saturn, they saw a dim body, yellow in colour, moving sluggishly. To their eyes, it seemed rather sinister. .....they felt that Saturn had an ominous influence that could bring misfortune."--SATURN, Brewer

Saturn takes a long 29 years and 167 days to make a complete orbit around the sun.It is the second largest planet in the solar system and is a whooping 95 timed heavier than Earth. The ring surrounding planet Saturn is one composed by several ice particles that vary in size. The size of Saturn's rings are only 275, 000 kilometres in diameter and 100 metres thick.
Saturn, together with Jupiter, Uranus and Neptune are known as 'gas giants'. Unlike the rest of the planets in the solar system, these planets mentioned are made up of mainly gases. Saturn is made of mostly hydrogen, helium gas and liquid, similar to Jupiter, however, it is of a smaller size than Jupiter.
This planet owns 9 moons, namely Iapetus, Rhea, Dione, Tethys, Mimas, Enceladus, Hyperion, Phoebe, and Titan.
