                      STING

Shrouded in mystery and controversy, Sting looms on the fringe of WCW vs. NWO. He has everyone intimidated by his silence. His Allegiance to himself has everyone guessing his next move.
This native of Venice Beach, Calif., has been the "franchise" superstar of  WCW since it's conception. As a major fan-favorite, Sting has been honored on numerous occasions as 'Wrestler of the Year". Matching his immense popularity are many ring championships. Prestigious victories against A-list opponents have garnered three WCW World Heavyweight Titles, WCW U.S. championships, WCW Tag Team belts in addition to inaugural wins in WCW BattleBowl and the European Cup Championship. Sting truly is 100 % WCW. He is their only superstar that has stayed with WCW through thick and thin. All others have come and gone, switching back and forth between federations. Sting truly is the "franchise" the "golden boy" of WCW.

This former collegiate basketball player has carved out two highly successful Main Event Fitness Centers in Atlanta with good friend and co-owner Lex Luger. In his spare time he enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, off-road jeeps and playing golf. Sting has starred in his first feature film,"The Real Reason", released in 1997. Perhaps the greatest testimony to Sting's popularity are requests from Make-A-Wish and The Starlight Foundation for his participation granting wishes to critically ill children by visiting them.

Dark, dangerous and ready to do battle, Sting has every WCW fan hoping that he comes back to lead the fight against the NWO.

History

-Played basketball in junior college while working on bodybuilding.

-Came within one point of qualifying for the  "Mr. USA " bodybuilding finals in 1984.

-Managers Red Bastian and Rick Bassman trained Sting and formed " Powerteam U.S.A " a four man wrestling team with the emphasis on their sculpted physiques.

-Two members of Powerteam left, and the remaining two, Sting and Rock ( The Ultimate Warrior ), formed Blade Runners.

-Briefly wrestled in the Mid-Southern area, then moved to Mid-South promotion, where Rock left following a feud with the Fantastics.

-Along with Steiner joined Eddie Gilbert's "Hot Stuff " stable as Mid-South became the UWF.

-Left Gilbert in 1987 and has never been a rulebreaker since.

-Became part of the N.W.A. when it merged with the U.W.F.

-Became one of the most popular wrestlers in the history of the sport.

-Briefly a member of the Four Horsemen.

-Suffered a serios knee injury on Feb. 06, 1990, but came back to win the World Title.

-Always colorful and outgoing switched to a  "darker "  persona after Sept. 15, 1996, when Lex Luger and The Four Horsemen refused to believe he wasn't a member of the N.W.O.

-Briefly a member of the N.W.O. Wolfpack.

-Holds a dubious distinction of the shortest W.C.W. World Title reign ever, as he won and lost the belt on the same episode of Monday Nitro.

Here's a list of Sting's opponents and accomplishments throughout his lustrious career as a major fan-favorite superstar in W.C.W.
