American Gothic was a great show, created by Shawn Cassidy. Unfortunately, the network screwed it up by showing programs out of order but I understand that it has been showed correctly on the Sci-Fi Channel.



This is Lucas Buck. He's the sheriff of a small town called Trinity. I'm not certain that Lucas is the Devil, but he is, at the very least, an extremely evil man. He has a stranglehold on the town, always willing and able to help anyone in need, but for a price.

The story begans with the death of Merlyn, the sister of Caleb, Lucas' illegitimate son. When Merlyn was young, Lucas raped her mother and killed her after Caleb's birth, while making it look like a suicide. On Caleb's birthday (I'm not sure which one), Merly's father snaps and hits her with a shovel. When help arrives in the form of Sheriff Buck and Deputy Ben Healy,



Lucas manages to be alone with Merly and breaks her neck. He blames the death on her father, who ultimately kills himself in jail. Ben knows better, because he saw Lucas kill Merly through the window.



Lucas' intention is to have Caleb live with him, so he can influence the course of his life, but the town doctor, Matt Crower, is suspicious. He takes Caleb to the hospital...



...where his cousin, Gail Emory, finds him.
