La Femme Nikita is a television series loosely
based on the Luc Besson film of the same title. At first, I
didn't want to watch it because I really like the film, and
foreign films don't usually translate to tv very well! In
this case, I was pleasantly surprised!
The television show doesn't try to follow the film
exactly, but breaks new ground. And the two actresses who
play Nikita are very different, so there's no comparison
for me.
The show always begins with a voice-over by Nikita. This is what she says..."I was falsely accused of a hideous crime and sentenced to life in prison."
"One night I was
taken from my cell, to a place called Section One, the most covert anti-terrorist group on the planet."
"Their ends are
just, but their means are ruthless."
"And if I don't play by their rules, I die."
