New York native Mariah was THE female pop superstar of the '90s, releasing an album each year that rocketed through the charts. Bursting on the scene in 1990 with a self-titled album, Mariah captured the attention of pop fans with her incredible range (eight octaves), as well as her characteristic, dolphin-like high notes (I swear, only dogs can hear some of those). Mariah captured the eye of many a fan, as well, with a penchant for short skirts, tight clothing and gorgeous cascading curls. Her multi-ethnic background gives her an exotic appeal as well as retaining a "girl next door" quality. She's sold well in excess of 120 million albums in her time, and her latest effort, RAINBOW, boasts even more chart topping singles, HEARTBREAKER, THANK GOD I FOUND YOU, and I STILL BELIEVE, as well as another, CRYBABY, moving up the charts as you read this. Nicely done for a girl that used to sweep up hair in a beauty salon. : )
