Road Dogg Jesse James

History of the Dogg

It seems like the Road Dogg Jesse James has been running strong forever. But it wasn't always so. He started out as the "Roadie" for JJ, Jeff Jarrett. But, in 1996, when Jarrett left, James was faced with only two choices. 1) Be faithful and follow his companion right out of the WWF. 2) Stay on and try to become a champion.

And so, Jesse chose to stay. The WWF was upset at Jeff Jarrett for leaving, as he was the former International Champ, and so in an effort to either humiliate or destroy him, they revealed that it was really the "Roadie" that was the voice behind With My Baby Tonight. Jesse did not admit it until late 1996.

When he finally reentered the ring, he was made to wear country "hick" clothes and had to shave his gorgeous locks off. Before every match, he had to sing With My Baby Tonight. Wearing the clothes and singing was supposed to make Jarrett mad, but JJ and the "Roadie" were still friends outside of work. Jesse did not want to bow down to the Titan gods, but a boss is a boss.

During this time, Badd Ass Billy Gunn was also making tough career choices. He had been the three time Tag Team champion to Honky Tonk Man's sidekick geek. After he'd been out for a month on a neck injury, Honky Tonk Man offered him the chance to follow in his somewhat strange footsteps. Gunn turned him down with a powerful slug. A week prior, Jesse James had also turned him down. But the manager promised a match against the "real" Double J at the "Revenge of the Taker" PPV.

Finally, Gunn realized that the only way he would get somewhere was to accept the offer. He let himself be turned into the heinous "Rockabilly" at the PPV. In the match, he beat James with the Shake, Rattle, and Roll. But after that, he suffered losses to such superstars as Goldust, HHH, Ken Shamrock, and Vader due to his manager's interference.

Months later, Jesse James and Billy Gunn were paired for a Tag Team Match on Shotgun Saturday Night. The people at Titan saw gold in the newfound teaming, as did the two themselves. Behind each other's backs, they each went to Titan and asked to be paired again in the future. A while later, James confronted Gunn on national T.V. and asked him to leave Honky Tonk Man and join him. When Billy smashed a guitar over Honky's head, his message was loud and clear. It was perhaps his best career move ever.

In the following weeks, the two adopted the names of The New Age Outlaws. Road Dogg grew his hair back out and Billy started getting an ego like you wouldn't believe. They were the most thrilling pair ever to hit the WWF. They were "WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS OF THE WORRRRLLLLDDDD".

Quite a while later, Jesse would beat Mankind for the Hardcore Title and Billy Gunn beat Ken Shamrock for the Intercontinental championship. Jesse started to beat the pants off of anybody and everybody. This included Al Snow, a maniacal and somewhat scary individual who seems massachistic in his ways.

Sadly, before the "St. Valentine's Day Massacre" PPV, and the defense of his Hardcore Title, Jesse went to Mr. McMahon for help with his drug problem. To keep this from the public, Jesse was supposedly beat up before a match and kept out of the PPV. He went to rehab for a few weeks and returned as energetic as ever.

Unfortunately, his character was pretty upset at the loss of his Hardcore Title to first Al Snow, then Bob Holly. He called them a couple of "p*****s" and brought them into a fight.

He did not get the title back, but two weeks later on Sunday Night Heat, the New Age Outlaws reunited once again to fight for their old titles. They lost. The next week on Heat, they lost again, but in a strange twist of events, they challenged Hardcore Holly and Val Venis to title matches. What made that odd was that Jesse went after the Intercontinental Championship (which Gunn has been whining about for a while) and Billy went after the Hardcore Title (which is rightfully Jesse's). Both won the sought after titles on March 15th Raw is War.

Billy made it a point to ask Jesse for a Title shot, and Jesse wanted the Hardcore belt back. In my opinion, that is where the feud started between Road Dogg and Badd Ass, however the official fighting did not start until April on an episode of Raw is War.

Since then, DeGeneration X has been torn apart. Jesse was not a part of the feud until Billy Gunn beat up X-Pac. Their relationship may have been repaired if Billy Gunn hadn't taken out Road Dogg and left him in the line of fire from Kane, X-Pac's new partner. This let Jesse know that Billy was no longer interested in being his partner.

On Sunday Night Heat on May 16, Road Dogg made his feelings about Billy perfectly clear when he introduced himself by saying: "Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Children of all ages... DeGeneration X proudly brings to you... it's... champion of the world... The Road Dogg Jesse James... and I DO NOT represent the NEW AGE OUTLAWS."

Some thought that the feud was just a ruse to make HHH think that DX couldn't survive without him, leading the way for a big trap that the Outlaws planned for him. However, as was made abundantly clear at the start of June, when Road Dogg and Billy Gunn began fighting in actual scheduled matches, this was not a ruse at all.

Two weeks before the King of the Ring PPV, the Road Dogg was put in a "Dogg Pound" match against Badd Ass. He was eager and ready to fight honestly, until Billy Gunn and Chyna beat the crap out of him for no other reason than to see him get the crap beat out of him.

A week later, Road Dogg faced Bob Holly in a match, when a pissed off Billy Gunn butted in. However, Road Dogg swore revenge against all the people who had betrayed DX.

At the King of the Ring, however, Road Dogg got back at least some revenge when he took on Chyna in head to head competion. He won his match, though HHH tried butting in. Unfortunately, he lost a later match against X-Pac, and so was not able to fight the final battle for KOTR. X-Pac and Road Dogg were both friends after the match, though, which just shows how much integrity the Road Dogg has.

And at the end of the KOTR competition, none other than Road Dogg's worst enemy, Badd Ass Billy Gunn, was crowned King. On the July 5 episode of Raw is War, we were shown that Billy and Chyna would stop at nothing to get back at Road Dogg. They even went so far as to frame RD and X-Pac with destruction of private property (spraypainting Chyna's car) and having them arrested. What else could happen to the Dogg?

A lot. Lately, Road Dogg has been taking a lot of beatings at the hands of Chyna and Billy Gunn, and most recently, by the Undertaker. On July 26th Raw is War, Road Dogg stepped up to help his friend X-Pac against the Undertaker's hands, but he was knocked out pretty fast. Later on in the show, he came out again to help Kane against Undertaker and the Big Show Paul Wight and was beat down again.

Since then, he's been involved very little. He had a few fights here and there, and he even guest commentated at SummerSlam during the hardcore match. He was involved for a short time with an angle with the WWF's newest acquisition, Chris Jericho, but left for a while after Jericho supposedly beat him down on Smackdown. It left us all boggled as to the real reason he had been gone for so long.

However, on Thursday, September 23, 1999, Road Dogg came back! It was right before a match in which The Rock and Mankind defended their tag-team titles. Road Dogg came out and said that the crowd didn't want to see them (Rock and Mankind) as champs anymore; They needed real champs. And with that, Billy Gunn's music began playing and out came the second half of the NEW AGE OUTLAWS!

True to their historical style, Jesse was pretty much beat down while Badd Ass got the win. And after the match, the long-missed words were spoken that every NAO fan has wanted to hear for so long: (Jesse)LADIES AND GENTLEMEN BOYS AND GIRLS CHILDREN OF ALL AGES... THE TAG TEAM CHAMPIONS OF THE WORRRRRRRRRRLD... THE ROAD DOGG JESSE JAMES, THE BADD ASS BILLY GUNN. THE NEW... AGE... OUTLAWS!!! (Billy)AND IF YOU'RE NOT DOWN WITH THAT, WE GOT TWO WORDS FOR YA! SUCK IT!

Was this the beginning of a new era in the WWF? Was Billy Gunn once again a member of D-Generation X? Did Hunter and Chyna reunite with their long-lost friends? Did X-Pac accept them all back??

YES!!!

It started out that Road Dogg and Billy Gunn stayed Tag Team Champs for a while. But one night, on Smackdown The Holly's won the belts. It was a devastation. But The Outlaws weren't down yet!

At No Mercy, The Outlaws went against the Holly's (who by now were without the belts) for the number one contender shot. The Holly's threw in a chair, and when Billy Gunn went to throw the chair from the ring, the ref saw him and thought it was a weapon for him, and the Outlaw's were disqualified.

On October 25, Road Dogg and Billy got main event status when they took on Stone Cold and The Rock. Amazingly, they won!! Road Dogg kicked ass! He shake, rattled, and rolled the rattlesnake and the (not so) great one. When the match was over, Stone Cold and The Rock were angry and started to beat them down. But in the blink of an eye, HHH and X-Pac came to their aid! DX was reunited. Unfortunately, it was a new type of DX. They were bad. X-Pac betrayed Kane, Road Dogg drove away with the Rock in the trunk of a car, and all of DX were given heel personalities.

Is this the end of DX as we know it? Is it the beginning of a terrible DX? How is it gonna end up?? Only time will tell. This was done by Katie, She gave me this page and I think I will leave this up here to honor her coolness!! ;O)
