Note: This doesn't include every single Eric and Greta summary in the month of February. Only the ones that I've had time to summarize.
February 2, 1999
Eric comes by Greta's apartment with some croissants for her. He also has a housewarming gift for her. She opens it and sees that it's a photo Eric took from the castle in France when they were there. She squeels with delight. She wonders where she should hang it because there is so much empty wall space in the apartment. Eric mutters that Nicole used to hang pictures of herself all over the place. Greta is a little uneasy that Eric mentioned Nicole and asks him if he'll be able to forget about Nicole while she's living in that apartment. Eric admits that he won't be able to forget about her, but he's trying. He says that this is a great apartment and Greta agrees. She comments that the view from the balcony is great. Eric then has a flashback of him and Nicole -- Nicole is showing Eric around her new apartment, telling him that the view from the balcony is great (the way Greta just did). Greta brings him back to reality and asks him if something's wrong. Eric covers and says that he's hungry. Greta says that she'll fix up a plate and get them something to drink. As she goes to the kitchen to do that, Eric's mind wanders and has another flashback of him and Nicole -- Nicole sneaks up behind him and asks him if he's hungry. Eric tries to kiss her, but she says hungry for food, not her. He says that he's thirsty, and Nicole replies, "Do you want coffee, tea, or me?" and Eric laughs. Eric comes back to reality and looks a little shaken. Later, he's on the couch as Greta brings them their drinks. She says that having the new apartment is like a fresh new start for her. Yes folks, it happens again. Eric has yet another flashback of him and Nicole -- he comes out of the bedroom putting his shirt back on and plops down on the couch. Nicole follows him out and Eric pulls her onto the couch with him. He asks her why she doesn't tell him about her past and she says to forget about the past, and to focus on their future together. Eric says okay and they kiss. He comes back to reality and makes an excuse to Greta that he has to leave to take care of some things. He gets up and goes to the door. Before he leaves, he kisses Greta, but starts dreaming about kissing Nicole. When he's out the door, he says to himself that he knows Nicole is behind this whole thing, and leaves to go find her.
Greta arrives at Lily's place looking for answers about her mother (and father). Lily confesses to Greta that her mother was a lying and conniving theif and Greta is shocked. She then asks Lily to tell her who her father is.
Eric comes storming into Nicole's office and demands to know why she's doing this to him. She tries to play innocent but Eric knows that she deliberately gave Greta the apartment so that he would keep having memories of the two of the together. Nicole says that she gave Greta the apartment because she wanted to help her and Eric. All she cares about is his happiness. Eric is furious with that comment because all she did was break his heart. How could she possibly care about his happiness? Nicole finally confesses that she loves Eric and always will. Eric is shocked.
February 3, 1999
Greta begs Lily to tell her who her father is. Lily will not do that so Greta starts running down the list of possible candidates. They bring up Prince Von Amberg but then quickly rule him out. Lily tells Greta about a Baron that Princess Gina used to love, but they're not sure if he's the father either. Greta then brings up John and Stefano as possibilities. Lily tells Greta that she knew Stefano as Rudolfo Meradi and that he had lots of deep dark secrets. Greta brings up John's name again and Lily advises her not to think about him being a possibility because he would most likely not want to find her on his doorstep. Greta picks up a newspaper and sees that an SOS signal is being sent out from France.
Eric can't believe his ears when Nicole tells him that she's still in love with him. She tells him that she wishes she was married to him, and not Lucas. Eric says that she had her chance for them to be married. Why did she ruin it? Nicole says that she ended it because she knew she wasn't right for him. She then tells Eric to be honest with himself -- if he's so serious about Greta, why can't he stop thinking about her? She presses on and finds out that Eric and Greta have not slept together yet. She asks him why? Eric and Nicole couldn't keep their hands off each other when they were together. Eric is bothered and asks Nicole why she's doing this. Does she want him to admit that he can't get over her? Nicole says that Greta is the right kind of girl for him. And besides, his family likes Greta, and they don't like her. Eric says that he doesn't care what his family thinks. He would have stayed with Nicole no matter what anyone said. But Nicole says that she just wanted to help his relationship with Greta by giving her the apartment. Eric finally buys into it and ends up apologizing to Nicole for accusing her of trying to manipulate him. Nicole extends out her hand to Eric. "Friends?" she asks. He shakes her hand and says, "Sure." Nicole is happy and then says that she has a surprise for him. Eric is curious.
February 4, 1999
Eric comments that Nicole has a surprise for him? He can't wait, he says hesitantly. Nicole smiles and asks him if he's scared. He says he is because he never knows what she's going to do next. She tells him that he won the Peterson Award for Photography and Eric is happily surprised. She gives him the certificate and tells him to frame it. She takes his hand and congratulates him. Eric is really thrilled with this and Nicole says she's not surprised -- she's always known he was a wonderful photographer. She also says that he is now a dear friend. She suggests that they go out for a celebratory drink but Eric says that's not a good idea. Why, asks Nicole. Does he think she'll jump his bones in public? Eric seems a little amused and says no. Is he afraid that he won't be able to hold back his feelings for her? Eric says that's not it either. Is he afraid what people may think if they see the two of them together? Eric says he doesn't care what people think. So what's the problem? Nicole asks. Eric finally gives in and agrees to one drink. They head on out and go to the Blue Note together.
When they get there, they fight through the crowds. Nicole finds a table in the corner and they head on over there. Eric is acting very polite with her, even holding the chair out for her to sit. The waiter asks what they'd like and Nicole says a bottle of champagne. Eric protests and reminds Nicole that he only agreed to one drink, remember? So Nicole changes her order to a vodka martini with a twist. Eric orders a beer, but Nicole says to order something else. After all, this is a celebratory drink. So Eric says he'll have what Nicole's having. Nicole looks very happy to be there with Eric.
Meanwhile, Greta and Lily are still at Lily's place and talking about the SOS signal. Greta wonders if it is somehow connected with Hope's whereabouts. They eventually let go of the thought. Lily suggests they get out of there and have some fun. Greta agrees and they head on over to -- you guessed it -- the Blue Note. When they get there, they sit at the bar and order their drinks. Greta wants a club soda. Lily asks about Greta's plan for her mother's burial. Where will it be? Greta says that she thought about burying her mother here in Salem, but decided against it rather quickly. After all, Salem is not Princess Gina's home. So she decided to bury her mother by the castle in France, since that's where Gina spent most of her time. Lily agrees that it is the best place to bury her. France is where Gina was loved. Greta agrees.
Back to Eric and Nicole, they are making small talk at the table. Their drinks have arrived and Eric takes a sip. He makes a sourpuss face and asks, "What is this? Cleaning fluid?" Nicole laughs and says that he'll get used to it. After a few more sips, Eric says that it's getting better. Nicole makes a toast. "To your award," she says. They clink glasses and take a sip. Just then, Nicole spots Greta at the bar. Greta starts walking towards them, heading for the bathroom. Nicole suddenly says to Eric that she has something in her eye. He quickly gets up to check on Nicole and holds her face in his hands. Just then, Greta sees the two of them and gets the wrong idea. Eric sees her and says that it's not what she thinks. But Greta pushes past Eric and into the bathroom. Eric sits back down and Nicole comments that Greta seems to have a problem with everything. She then says that she has a meeting back at Titan and has to leave. She knows that Eric probably wants to talk to Greta, so she'll take a cab. Eric stops Nicole and says that he'll bring her back to Titan. They get up to leave. Before they go, Eric leaves a message with Lily to tell Greta that he'll see her later. When Greta sees that Eric and Nicole are gone, she comes out of the bathroom and goes back to Lily. Lily gives her Eric's message and Greta says that she just doesn't understand men. Lily says to not even bother trying to figure them out. After all of Lily's experiences with men, she still deosn't have a clue about them.
