Where before the concert at the Tower Records signing we met Rick WHOO HOO!! :) Then at Sunset we ran into Ronnie again and took a picture with him, then after the show we met Barbara (Rick's wife) then the amazing Tim Pierce, then our night was topped off with pic's of our 1st Lance encounter, then yet another meeting and pic with Jack White!
~~Shannon's Review~~
We flew into Vegas late Friday night..but by the time we got to our room we decided we wouldn't go to the BBFN get together..it was to late...and umm..well....the SLOTS called us as we walked by to go to our room :) hehehe
Sat morning......(may I mention here that the 3 hour time difference was KICKING our BUTTS :) )
Anyways....We decided to go as soon as possible to Tower Records for the signing..we spent YET another $20.00 on cab fare UGH :) and headed on over there at about 1:00pm ( it was set up for 3:00pm) When we got there, we were some of the first people there, but no line formed as of yet :) so we wandered around for a few...We found a Hard to Hold soundtrack (the 94 version) .....Then some onelisters formed a line..and Jenn and I geared up to wait for THE MAN :) They played the KARMA CD twice...that was a nice way to wait BTW :)
My time came and I had about 6 things I had brought with me decided from to have him sign...I finally decided on my Beginnings LP the gatefold version..and when I walked up to him and he smiled at me I almost died :) and I laid my LP down and he said " Ohhh a BEGINNINGS LP !! You scare me with this shit" and laughed :) I said " yeah..this is your "This is when I was a girl prop at your concerts " and I was laughing he looked up at me and laughed and said " yeah it is" and laughed" it was funny :) It was real rushed so I sat down next to him and he put his arm around my shoulder( can u say OH MY GOD!) and I leaned in and we smiled at my camera and I got up and gave him a big hug and said "I love You" and he smiled and said "thank you sweetie" and ..ahh..I know it was me and TONS of others that had the same experience but I was still in heaven.. and walked over to wait for Jenn... :) After she got done...we decided we would try and get one of Jenn and I together with Rick..and Jenn went up to Ronnie and asked him "since we flew all the way from south Florida can we PLEEEASE get a pic with both of us with Rick???" we made pathetic faces and he smiled and said "sure" and told Rick " hey Rick were gonna sneak in a quick picture here " and Rick said "ok" :) and soo here's Jenn my best friend for 10 years and she's standing here with her camera..and I'm sitting here with Rick Springfield's arm around my shoulder and not minding it a BIT, BUT....I knew tons of people wanted to meet THE MAN also..so I was going "JENNIFER!! HELLO!! HURRY UP " and Rick goes " Yeah Jennifer, WHAT ARE YA DOING there??? HURRY UP!" He was cracking up & I lost it!! Tooo FUNNY :) LOL Jenn finally gets her camera all straightened out..and plops down next to Rick and we smile for the camera :-) It was great!!
We Thanked Ronnie and TOOK OFF to FLY out of Tower so we can get to Sunset Station to get in line for the VIP seating...we got there at about 4:30pm or so...and sat down and waited...Ronnie was walking by with roses in his hand and Jenn and I were like RONNIE!! and he was smiling and we asked him if we could have our pic taken with and he was like "I don't know why you'd want to, but sure" and I said "cuz you are so good for Rick!!"He laughed and we got a good pic :) Ronnie always keeps Rick well pumped for the shows (we think) with Starbucks coffee :) LOL
We went and got in line for the show. They let us in at 6:45 and they only were letting 20 people at a time outside...so we got 3rd row...which wasn't bad :)
After the Abgornial music ended and HE came out he did Affair and then Allyson... and continued with some of his best songs...at one point He said " Ok lets get this out of the way" and teased about being 29 yrs old etc...told the crown he just had a birthday last week...& had the crowd laughing and then we all sang Happy Birthday to him while he grinned and pointed at himself for the "TOOOO RIIIIIICKK" part..It was adorable...and my heart melted ;-)
We had the BEST time...Rick and the guys put on THE best show..out of 6 we have seen since May this was the BEST one!!!
The medley was unbelievable!! It included...What Kind of Fool am I?....Don't Walk Away...Just One Kiss...Everybody's Girl...Stand Up...and Bruce and maybe more but I can't remember :)
He sang FREE from Karma..it was great, he did his explanation about the little boy drowning..and had tears in his eyes and his voice was quivering too :( He really is a sweet person....He asked us to sing the "Im FREEEEEEE" part :) seeing as he couldn't do both...I must say it was neat to be a BIG fan at that point because not many people knew the words and could sing for him...So it was nice to be able to be part of the special group of people who have KARMA and knew the words :)
Sadly, he didn't do My Father's Chair or April 24th 1981 which I love to see him do live...but he really kicked some major A** Saturday night :) Having the talented Tim Pierce there was a real special treat!! I was like NO WAY when he came out and Rick introduced him :) It seemed to really put Rick in an EVEN better mood to have Tim there too...he was like a little boy when Tim walked out :) He was ALLLL over the place smiling and laughing... It is a BLAST to see him have so much fun...I think he was in a great mood partly because he had one of his longtime friends there....boy can HE play the guitar huh?? I was blown away by when he, Rick and Dave had their guitar duel :) It was GREAT :) and I can't even tell you how awesome it was...I wish/hope it was recorded...so you guys can all enjoy it because it was amazing!!
For the encore he did...my all time favorite (and my daughter's too) KRISTINA!!! and he had ***OMGG**** changed into his cute little white socks and tennies LOL and those same shorts he wore in Clio..and again NO SHIRT!! WOW (sorry to the MEN out there (except George, our soon to be, travel bud) who might not want to hear this part ;-) ) He was all sweaty and yummy and just so HAPPY!! Then he did All day/night and Doo Wah Ditty...he blew us kisses and did the hug thing and was GONE :(
Ok soo.... there were alot of people there..and they all seemed to be clustered by the trailers and had high hopes of meeting him..but since we had met him that day..we decided to wait by the fence in hopes of Jack, Lance, Dave and MAYBE TIM :) coming out to do some signing...well we got to talking to the security guards and a nice guy came up to us and had heard us say we flew across the US to see RICK that night and said maybe he could get us back there...we were like COOL :) But as we were standing by the trailer...Guess who was standing there?? Barbara, Rick's wife :) She was soooo nice...she had some Memorabilia she had gotten Rick to sign for some fans and was trying to get back there and didn't have her backstage pass on her neck..so the Security Guard was like Im sorry maam..etc..and she got out her pass and was sooooooo nice I mean BEYOND nice and had the sweetest voice and smile and said " Oh I'm sorry...do you need to see my pass? I'm Rick's wife" and of course they rushed her back but she stopped in front of me as people passed and said "how was the show? was it good?" I was like "OMG YESS it was WONDERFUL, as usual" and she goes " Good, Good...I was on the side and it just isn't the same" I was LIKE "Barbara he was awesome..and YOU are soooooo lucky!!!!" she smiled and said "Thank you" :) and she was like "I'm glad you enjoyed the show..thanks for coming, I really have to go...they really WILL leave without me" and pointed to Rick..I was like "Oh Barbara I DON'T THINK SO !!" :-) She was soooo beautiful and kind and so willing to help the people who wanted to go meet Rick and was taking so many back to meet him...she was nice as can be :)
Then Rick and Barbara left and security got cut. Most people had left...and we saw Tim Pierce and Lance standing by some fans..so we were off to the side and a friend of Tims/maybe an employee of some sort saw us quietly standing there with dopey grins on our faces and motioned for us to come on over :) and so we did....Jenn and I had our Sahara Snow CD inserts with us...(hoping Rick would sign them) but seeing as Tim was 1/3 of the team on SS we were like "hey Tim can you sign these for us?" He was like " WOW Sahara Snow eh?" we were like "yes It's awesome!!" he thanked us..and signed them both :) we told him how WONDERFUL he was on stage and I asked him if he had fun playing tonight? and he was like "YES I had a great time, but I don't know how good I was though" We assured him he was fantastic and he thanked us and left...We had one picture left and really wanted to get a pic with Lance so after Tim left we asked Lance if he'd mind getting a pic of us with him? He goes SURE! but backed away and said "Hmm as long as I don't see these on the Internet with my face and someone else's body..." LOL I promised him No that would NOT happen :) he was very cool and we told him also he was great that night and we were leaving and as we were passing the T-shirt table guess who we saw?? JACK :) He was working with the guy that sold them..doing business...we waited off to the side....then Jack said "What are they waiting for?" and the guy said..." YOU" LOL Jack was like "COOl ok what can I do for ya?" We said a picture?? Jeanne-Marie had one left so she had someone take that one of the three of us with Jack he was nice and we said to him also That he kicked A** tonight too :) He was cool...He thanked us and we left! :-)
Well..all in all it was well worth the thousands of dollars we spent on our trip to Nevada :) We gambled and gambled our money away but had fun doing it :) We had some awesome experiences and got some awesome pics and met some awesoem people :) ~Shannon~
Jenn's Review
Well....
It was a weekend that I will never forget!! And, was well worth traveling on the other side of the country for!! Shan might have covered some of this so if I repeat anything I'm sorry.
Shan and I got in to Las Vegas on Friday night. We were beyond tired... but as soon as we saw the lights on the Strip we perked up immediately! :) It was too late to go to the Brewery for the get together. So we checked out some of the other hotels on the strip before passing out somewhere around 4am I think. :)
The next morning... we got up bright and early and headed over to Tower for the signing. This was a nice surprise especially since we hadn' t known that there was going to be a signing when we booked our flight! :) We got there somewhere around 1pm. We were told by a guy over in the electronics department that signing would be over in the coffee bar area.. but then we saw people lining up by the Karma display. We waited on line for about 2 hours and watched the people pile in too see the man! Ironically, the line in front of us seemed to getting bigger as well but I won't go there... it will probably just start a flame war. Anyway... a little after 3pm Rick finally came out. :) The line seemed to move pretty quickly. Shan went first, then it was my turn. They were only allowing one item to be signed to make sure that they could get to everyone so I chose my "Rock of Life" CD insert. I handed Rick the insert and suddenly became speechless. He looked at the insert and said "Rock of Life... a lot of people are looking for this." And, all my speechless self could get out was "I know, I think it's a great CD" We posed for a quick picture and I asked if I could give him a kiss! :) He said yes :) and I kissed him on the cheek and floated away. :) Shan and I wanted to get a picture together with Rick so I went up to Ronnie and asked him if I could have a favor..... at this point instead of speechless.. I was stuttering! :) I explained that Shan and I had come all of the way from Florida to see Rick and could we possibly get a picture together with him. He said "Sure, no problem" and told Rick that they were going to sneak in a picture. :) We took the picture thanked Rick and Ronnie again... and headed to Sunset Station for the concert.
We got to the Sunset Station about 4:40pm. We found the area where the people were lining up for the concert and took our spot on the floor. We met some really nice people and exchanged stories, took bathroom and food breaks and all of that stuff. During one of our restroom breaks... we ran into Ronnie in the hall heading towards the amphitheatre and we asked him to take a picture with us... which he gladly did! :)
They started letting people outside to take their seats at 6:45pm. They let everyone out in groups of 20 to prevent from being trampled. A little after 9pm the band took the stage and started playing the "Affair" music. Then.. There he was... in his pleather pants, black shirt and long black coat. Out of all of the concerts that Shan and I have been to since our first one on May 1st in Atlanta... this was by far the best one! He did the usual set list with the exception of "Free" and the medley that contained "What Kind of Fool Am I" "Don't Walk Away" "Everybody's Girl" "Calling All Girls" "Stand Up" and "Bruce" there might have been a couple of more.. but those are the one's that I can remember.
He introduced the band early in the night because he had a "special guest" with him. As you all know by now it was Tim Pierce. Rick stated that they hadn't played on stage together in over 15 years ... it was really great to see it in person. During the encore ... which he came out shirtless for..... Dave, Rick and Tim had a little game to see who was better.... it was really awesome. :)
After the show ... we hung out in the area by the stage ... away from the mob by his trailer ... we talked with a couple of the security guards for a little while.. and just as we were about to leave.. one came up and quietly asked if we wanted to go backstage. We were like... YES!! But, by the time we got over there Rick was already leaving with Barbara... who by the way.. was just so nice! :) It was really nice to know that Rick has a wife who is just as nice and loves his fans just as much as he does. :)
After Rick and Barbara left ... so did security ... we looked over where Tim Pierce was standing with Ronnie, Lance and a few other people and a guy waved for us to come over. We asked Tim to sign our Sahara Snow's and took a picture with Lance. :)
Recap.... We met "The Man" at the signing (with a bonus.. I got to kiss his cheek!) :)and had our pictures taken with him.... it was an AWESOME show!! We got to meet Barbara, Tim Pierce and Lance.... I think this was the BEST Rick experience that anyone could possibly have!!! And, I still haven't come off the cloud. :) With all of that.... There's still Atlanta in 11 days!!! :) ... in a state of Rick bliss.... Jenn
