ABDUCTION

Written By Ben Campbell

We see nothing but darkness the view is pitch black, pan camera down to see are main character Julian Chambers standing in the empty space his arms stretched out and a worried look on his face. He looks around at the blackness and is suddenly struck upon by a white light shinning behind him. He turns to face the light and the entire screen is filled with the blinding white light. We hear strange noises coming from the light, which sounds like a strange alien language. A face appears from the light, its skin is a light grey almost white colour. Its eyes are a yellow tinge with an element of kindness in them.

After this there are many shots intercut all to do with alien abduction, the speed of the cuts intensifies until they eventually climax. Cut to.

1. Int. Julian’s Bedroom - Nightime.

Julian wakes up with a start and sits up in his bed. It takes him a moment or two to calm down when he does he takes a look around the room realising that it was all a dream. He gets out of bed and hurriedly walks over to the window looking out the curtains.

2. Ext. Backgarden - Nightime.

The view from the window is a peaceful one, The night is calm.

3. Int. Julian’s Bedroom - Nightime.

Julian lets out a big sigh and walks away from the window and out of the room.

4. Int. Christina’s Kitchen - Early morning.

Its a bright sunny morning and members of Christina’s family are getting ready for work/school etc. Mum is in her dressing gown making breakfast for Jamie the youngest of the family who is playing at the breakfast table. Christina enters fully dressed looking refreshed ready for work. Mum turns around to greet Christina.

MUM
Good Morning, did you sleep well last night?

She walks over to Christina with Jamie’s fried breakfast in hand and strokes her forehead in a motherly fashion.

CHRISTINA
I had that dream again.

MUM
The one when you run away with Brad Pitt.

CHRISTINA
No, the same as last night, the one with the lights. I woke up a four this morning and couldn’t get back to sleep.

MUM
Are you sure you don’t want to see the doctor about this, he maybe able to help.

CHRISTINA
Mum it was just a dream that’s all.

JAMIE
Christina have you been seeing aliens again?

MUM
No Jamie, here eat your breakfast.

Mum shoves the plate full of fried food under Jamie’s nose, she instantly shuts up.
Christina gets up out of her chair.

5. Ext. Daniel’s house - Morning.

( Shouting )
DANIEL!
6. Int. Daniel’s Kitchen.

Daniel’s mother enters the kitchen and screams his name again.
She walks over to the kitchen window.

D MUM
Where the devil is he?

She looks through the window and sees Daniel kneeling in the centre of the garden looking at the sky.

D MUM
( Shouting )
Daniel! ( He does not reply, not even a movement.) Daniel! deaf as anything that boy.

She walks out of the kitchen into the garden.

7. Ext. Backgarden - Morning.

Daniel is in a trance staring at the sky, not moving and not taking any notice of his mother who walks over to him.

D MUM
Daniel I’ve been looking all over for you. ( Pause ) What are you doing?

DANIEL
They were here last night mum.

D MUM
Oh don’t start that again, you’ve been watching to much television. Science fiction films stuff like that, your brain washing your self that’s what’s happening to you, not being visited by aliens. Anyway why would aliens want to visit you? you don’t do anything, just sit around all day like you are now. So how about doing something for a change like washing the car?

DANIEL
I had another dream mum, just like before.

D MUM
Those bloody flashing lights again. To many strobe lights my boy, that’s what it is. To many raves and concerts.

DANIEL
Yes mum.

D MUM
Now be a good boy and wash the car, I’ll make you a big lunch.

DANIEL
I’ll be in, in a minute.

Daniel’s mum nods her head and walks back into the house. Daniel continues to look at the sky and a small smile comes over his face.

8. Ext. Julian’s car - Daytime.

Julian is driving along a country road, fast.

9. Ext. Driveway of Daniel’s house - Daytime.

He puts down the phone and continues driving.

11. Int. Living room - Daytime.

Christina’s mum enters the room with two cups of tea. She walks over to Christina. sits next to her and hands her a cup of tea.

MUM
Here you go.

CHRISTINA

MUM

12. Int. Daniel’s kitchen - Daytime.

Daniel stands in the kitchen with the car cleaning bucket and rags on the floor next to him. He is on the telephone.

DANIEL

13. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

A young man sits on his own behind a two seater table, he appears to be waiting for someone. Julian enters the restaurant and looks around, he notices the man and walks towards him.

JULIAN
Sorry I’m late.

JACK
Just like your deliveries mate.

Julian sits in the chair opposite Jack.

JULIAN
Hey less of that.

Julian picks up a menu and starts rifling though it.

JACK
Don’t worry about that I’ve ordered for you.

JULIAN
Very kind of you, so I guess your paying.

JACK
You should be so lucky, you owe me dragging me out on my lunch hour to a place like this.

JULIAN
Way to classy for you.

JACK
I thought you said less of that?

Julian laughs.

JACK
So, what’s this problem you need to talk about?

14. Int. Living Room - Daytime.

CHRISTINA
I just can’t get back to sleep afterwards.

MUM
So its more like a nightmare.

15. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

JACK
What do you mean nightmares?

JULIAN
Its hard to explain. There like dreams but at the same time their real.

JACK
Sort of like memories.

JULIAN
Yes like memories, memories that I’ve experienced but at the same time haven’t.

16. Int. Living Room - Daytime.

MUM
I’m sorry your confusing me dear.

CHRISTINA
That’s what scares me I’m just as confused.

17. Int. Daniel’s kitchen.

DANIEL
Every way I try to look at it, it changes like I’m not meant to realise what’s happening.

18. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

JACK
What do you thinks happening?

JULIAN
I’m not sure, the easiest way to explain it is to tell you what I see.

19. Int. Daniel’s kitchen.

DANIEL
It starts off with darkness.

20. Int. Living Room - Daytime.

CHRISTINA
But then there’s this light.

21. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

JULIAN
Which you get dragged into, It blinds you.

22. Int. Daniel’s kitchen - Daytime.

DANIEL
But after that there’s the face and the . . . .

23. Int. Living Room - Daytime.

CHRISTINA
Voices, these strange voices talking to me but I can’t understand what there saying . . .

24. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

JULIAN
. . . . To me, trying to tell me something, after that everything becomes a mess. Thousands of images flashing . . .

25. Int. Living Room - Daytime.

CHRISTINA
In front of my eyes.

26. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

JULIAN
But there’s one image that sticks out.

27. Int. Daniel’s kitchen - Daytime.

DANIEL
A forest.

28. Int. Living Room - Daytime.

CHRISTINA
A forest.

29. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

JULIAN
A forest.

30. Int. Daniel’s kitchen - Daytime.

DANIEL
After that I wake up fearing what I’ve just seen.

31. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

JULIAN
Feeling unsafe as if I had been taken away from my bed while I slept.

32. Int. Living Room - Daytime.

MUM
Your mad.

33. Int. Daniel’s kitchen - Daytime.

DANIEL
Pardon?

34. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

JULIAN
That was not the kind of reaction I was after Jack.

JACK
I’m sorry mate, its just I don’t know what to make of it. I mean you could just be having a reoccurring nightmare that will haunt you for a few weeks and suddenly disappear.

The waitress brings their food and places it on the table in front of them, both men thank her.

JULIAN
Its more than that, Its like I’m being taken away to another place.

They both start eating.

JACK
( With a mouth full of food )
Or another galaxy.

JULIAN
Pardon?

JACK
Another galaxy, you know alien abduction.

Julian looks blankly at Jack.

JACK
I think what your explaining to me has all the qualities of an alien abduction.

Julian stares at his food not believing what he is hearing.

JACK
Didn’t you ever think it was that before?

JULIAN
I had, but I had also hoped nobody else would think that.

JACK
Why not?

JULIAN
Because the thought of it terrifies me.

35. Int. Living Room - Daytime.

CHRISTINA
Alien abduction!

MUM
It’s just a thought. I saw something about it on t.v people seeing flashing lights and hearing strange voices.

CHRISTINA
That’s not very reassuring mum.

MUM
Don’t worry I’m being silly. Give it a few weeks and then we’ll worry. Okay?

CHRISTINA
Okay.

Mum gets up and takes the empty cups away. She walks to the living room door and stops.

MUM
Remember you’ve gone through this before, and with any luck it’ll disappear again. Believe me.

Christina smiles and mum walks out of the room.

CHRISTINA
What can I believe?

36. Int. Daniel’s kitchen - Daytime.

DANIEL
Yes I know it sounds extraordinary but its the truth. . . . . I know its aliens it has to be, pardon? . . . . . I’ve only ever experienced this sort of thing when I was a kid, yes I had the dreams for a while when I was six. Pardon? . . . . . okay, yes I see well have a good time . . . oh and Martin thanks for listening I had to tell another person. . . . . and please don’t tell anyone. Thanks, see you soon Martin, bye.

Daniel puts the phone down and turns to walk away, as he does he trips on the bucket knocking it over covering the kitchen floor with water.

DANIEL
Damn it!

O.S D MUM
( Shouting )
Daniel! what was that splash?

37. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

Julian and Jack have finished dinner and are drinking some coffee.

JULIAN
I’ve always had this thing about it ever since I was a kid.

JACK
Did you ever experience anything like this when you were young then?

JULIAN
I had the same dreams when I was six but when your a kid you scare easy.

JACK
That’s something that can last you the rest of your life.

JULIAN
( Unhappy )
Yeah.

Jack looks at his watch.

JACK
I’m sorry Julian but I’ve got to go, these new shifts can be a pain. When ever you need to talk just call me yeah?

JULIAN
Yes.

Jack gets up and takes his jacket off the back of his chair.

JACK
But until then don’t get kidnapped or you’ll miss me paying for lunch.

JULIAN
Okay, see you later.

Jack pats Julian on the shoulder as he walks past and out of the restaurant. Julian puts his face in his hands and strokes his hair back.

JULIAN
I don’t beleve it.

38. Int. Daniel’s bathroom - Daytime.

Daniel walks into the bathroom switching the light on. He stands in front of the mirror looking at his reflection.

DANIEL
He didn’t believe me.

39. Int. Restaurant - Daytime.

Julian laughs to himself, throws some money on the table and leaves to restaurant.

40. Int. Daniel’s Bathroom.

Daniel turns off the bathroom light and the picture turns pitch black.

The camera pans down to reveal Julian in the darkness, he is in the same position as he was at the start of the film. Again he is struck by the light from behind him. Julian turns around and covers his face screaming as the screen is filled with a brilliant white light. The white begins to clear slightly and we can just make out three figures standing in the brightness. They are Julian, Christina and Daniel all looking at each other, not knowing what to do.

41. Int. Julian’s bedroom - Nightime.

Julian wakes up with a start, when he realises what’s happened he leaps out of bed and rushes to the window, staring out.

42. Ext. Backgarden - Nightime.

The night is calm, just like before.

43. Int. Julian’s Bedroom.

Julian rushes out of his room and down stairs into the back garden.

44. Ext. Backgarden - Nightime.

He rushes onto the grass and stops looking at the sky. He frantically searches the night sky but there is nothing to see. Julian looks angry, slow motion of Julian endlessly searching the heavens.

45. Ext. Front door- Daytime.

Julian walks up to the door and rings the door bell, he is carrying a large box which blocks his view of the doorway. Christina answers the door and stands in the doorway.
Julian can’t see her, Christina can’t see Julian.

JULIAN
I have a delivery for Mr Fairgate.

CHRISTINA
Can I sign for it?

Julian puts down the box and picks up his notebook.

JULIAN
I guess so.

Julian then stands up and looks at Christina, the two instantly know each other.

JULIAN
Hi Christina, How are you?

CHRISTINA
( Unsure )
I’m fine.

JULIAN
Jesus, I haven’t seen you . . . . . . . ever before in my life.

Julian begins the sentence as if he was going to say “ I haven’t seen you in ages” but as he realises what he’s about to say he slows down and the sentence becomes serious.

Christina smiles an awkward smile as Julian thinks hard on how he knows her.

JULIAN
We’ve never met before have we?

CHRISTINA
Not that I can remember.

JULIAN
No, I didn’t think so.

Julian folds his arms and stares at Christina.

JULIAN
I swear I know you ( He thrusts out his hand to shake hers ) I’m Julian Chambers.

Christina takes his hand.

CHRISTINA
Christina ( Pause ) Christina Fairgate.

JULIAN
Hi.

Christina smiles.

JULIAN
This is amazing, how did I know your name?

CHRISTINA
You tell me, you do look familiar.

JULIAN
Are you doing anything right now?

CHRISTINA
No its my day off, why?

JULIAN
Any chance of a cup of tea?

46. Int. Christina’s Living room - Daytime.

Julian and Christina sit on a sofa drinking tea and talking.

JULIAN
So you grew up in London and moved here when you were?

CHRISTINA
Fifteen, and have been living here ever since.

JULIAN
Do you like it up here?

CHRISTINA
Yeah, I’ve got a good job, live in a nice house, loads of mates. Its good.

JULIAN
I’ve lived here all my life.

CHRISTINA
And you work as a delivery boy.

JULIAN
Well I know my way around, I deliver computers and others things to peoples homes in and out of town.

CHRISTINA
It must keep you busy.

JULIAN
Yeah I hardly get a moments rest, spend most of my time in the car.

CHRISTINA
Well at least you get out. I spend the whole day in a office, typing on a computer with a headmistress of a boss breathing down my neck every five minutes.

JULIAN
Sounds bad.

At that moment Julian drops his signature book on to the floor. Out of it falls a magazine on aliens, Christina picks up the magazine.

JULIAN
( Nervous )
Oh . . . . I didn’t mean to drop that, thanks for picking it up.

Julian goes to take the mag from her but stops when he notices that Christina is totally enchanted by it.

JULIAN
Christina?

Christina shakes her head, as though see was in a trance and hands the mag back to Julian.

CHRISTINA
I’m sorry ( Pause ) I didn’t realise you were an alien’s fanatic, you don’t look like the type.

JULIAN
No . . . Are you all right?

CHRISTINA
Yes, I just thought of something that’s all.

JULIAN
What kind of things can someone think about when looking at an alien?

CHRISTINA
Oh I’ve just been having some trouble getting to sleep recently, having some strange dream. A girl at work said that I was being kidnapped by aliens of course that’s non-sense but that picture, I don’t know it struck a nerve.

Julian looks down at the picture, and back at Christina.

JULIAN
What kind of dream?

CHRISTINA
Your going to think I’m nuts if I tell you.

JULIAN
Believe me I won’t.

Christina looks at Julian for a moment.

CHRISTINA
Well, It starts with a black space and I’m standing in the middle of it. I’m all alone until suddenly there’s this bright white light which I get . . . .

JULIAN
Sucked into and once your inside it your completely blinded, but then this white alien face appears in front of you talking to you in a strange language. Then there’s thousands of images flashing in front of you until it becomes to much to take.

CHRISTINA
But there’s something else in the light.

JULIAN
Figures, three figures.

CHRISTINA
Two boys and me.

JULIAN
A girl and a boy.

There’s a long moment of silence before the two speak again. Christina then smiles.

CHRISTINA
I found you.

JULIAN
Pardon?

CHRISTINA
I have to introduce you to someone, oh my god this is amazing.

JULIAN
Your telling me, what do you mean by you found me?

Christina gets up and starts pushing Julian towards the front door.

CHRISTINA
All will be revealed when you meet me here after you finish work.

They get to the front door, Christina opens the door and pushes Julian through it.

JULIAN
Come on Christina tell me now.

CHRISTINA
No way be patient!

JULIAN
I don’t finish till eight tonight.

CHRISTINA
Thats alright I’ll be here.

Christina shuts the door in Julian’s face who then opens the letter box and calls through.

JULIAN
( Shouting )
That’s a date.

CHRISTINA
( Shouting )
I don’t think so hot shot.

Julian smiles and walks away, Christina leans on the door and smiles.

47. Ext. Daniels bedroom door - Nightime.

They reach Daniel’s shut bedroom door, Christina knocks on it.

CHRISTINA
Daniel are you in there?

We hear Daniel’s voice from the other side.

DANIEL
Yes come in.

Christina opens the door and enters followed by Julian.

48. Int. Daniel’s bedroom - Nightime.

Daniel’s bedroom is dark as the light is off, the glow from the bright night outside provides the light. Daniel has his telescope set up on the window sill, he is looking through it not taking any notice of his visitors. Due to the lack of light our heroes can not see each other clearly.

DANIEL
Look at this Christina, the moon is really bright tonight, you can see all the constellations.

CHRISTINA
Daniel I’d like to introduce you to someone.

Daniel does not reply.

CHRISTINA
Daniel?!

DANIEL
Huh?

Daniel turns and moves away from the telescope, he now realises that there’s somebody with Christina.

DANIEL
Who’s that with you?

Christina switches on the light so Daniel and Julian can see each other, the two instantly recognise each other. Slow track in on both characters.

DANIEL
Oh my god!

JULIAN
Ditto.

They stare at each other amazed.

CHRISTINA
It’s amazing isn’t it.

DANIEL
I don’t believe it, you found him.

JULIAN
Don’t you start that, Now what’s going on?

Daniel walks towards Julian.

DANIEL
Something I’ve been trying to work out for years. Why we share the same visions, the same dreams. And how we know each other.

CHRISTINA
Daniel and I met when I started school here and it was just like when you and I met in the street we instantly knew each other. But the question was, how?

JULIAN
And you have a theory.

DANIEL
Alien abduction you, me and Christina we are all alien quinea pigs.

JULIAN
Really?

DANIEL
Its the only explanation, the face in the white light, what do you think that is? What do you think its saying to us? They’re communicating, trying to tell us something and they have been with us ever since we were young.

CHRISTINA
Do you remember a time when you were six years old and for a few moments you lost your parents in a park. That’s when we all first met.

Julian looks at Christina and then turns away listening to her words. Christina’s voice fades away as Julian speeks a voice over.

JULIAN V.O
As I stood there listening to what Christina was telling me, it all became clear. The three of us had experienced the same thing, the dreams , the images. But it was deeper than the visions we all knew each other, we had met before. Christina explained everything. The only thing that was missing was the reason behind the dreams, we needed an explanation, a solution.

All three are silent.

JULIAN
I have an idea.

Christina and Daniel look at him intrigued.
Cut to.

49. Int. Julian’s living room - Nightime.

There are three beds made up on the living room floor, Christina and Daniel sit on two of them. In front of the three beds is a camera tripod. Julian enters the room with a video camera and places it on the tripod.

JULIAN
With this positioned here, we’ll have a perfect view of the action.

CHRISTINA
Do you really think this will work?

Julian looks at Christina blankly.

DANIEL
There’s not much else we can do, it’s got to work.

Julian smiles at Daniel and turns to grin at Christina.

CHRISTINA
I’m going to take the far end bed, Daniel you take the middle.

JULIAN
Hey, I was hoping to take the middle.

CHRISTINA
Good one, you’ve got the one on the other side of Daniel, that way I can trust you.

JULIAN
You really think I was going to try something!

Christina gets into bed.

CHRISTINA
Men can’t resist a camera.

Daniel and Julian get into their beds.

JULIAN
Now all we have to do is sleep. If we dream hopefully the camera will pick something strange up.

DANIEL
You do realise that all three of us have never slept in the same room before. Be prepared for the unexpected.

A moments silence.

CHRISTINA
You two?

Julian and Daniel look at her.

CHRISTINA
I’m scared.

JULIAN
Don’t worry we all are, just relax we’ll see it through together.

All three put their heads down, slow track away from the three beds on the floor.

50. Ext. Julian’s house - Nightime.

Slow track away from the front of the house.

51. Ext. Street - Nightime.

Slow track away from the house down the street.

52. Int. Julian’s Living room - Nightime.

We slowly move across the three sleeping figures on the floor. Julian is snoring and the other two are silent. We hear the camera buzzing to it’s self on the tripod. As we watch the camera there is a sudden flicker of white light from outside in the back garden. More lights flicker on as they begin to illuminate the back room. Lights seem to descend in the garden making the back room as bright as day. There’s a deep rumbling sound which begins to vibrate the camera on its tripod and various ornaments around the living room. Julian, Christina and Daniel are oddly undisturbed by the light and noise. Top shot of the living room as light suddenly pours though the front window, total illuminating the living room. The rumbling is now deafening and objects vibrate around the room, the video camera on it’s tripod shakes furiously. Cut to.

53. Int. Blackness

We are suddenly engulfed in darkness and silence. Pan camera down to see Julian, Christina and Daniel standing in the darkness arms outstretched, they notice each other and look worried. Suddenly a white light appears from behind them, all three turn to face it. Screaming they are engulfed by the light which fills the screen. From the light appears the alien face and we hear the strange voices speaking from behind it. Then lots of shots are cut together all to do with alien abduction, the speed of the cuts intensifies until we cut to.

54. Int. Julian’s Living room - Nightime.

The camera topples over with the force of the vibration, Julian suddenly opens his eyes. As he does the light instantly switches off and once again the room is dark apart from a glow coming room the back garden. Julian jumps to his feet running out of the living room.

JULIAN
( Shouting )
Daniel, Christina, Wake up!!!

Julian runs though the kitchen and out into the garden.

55. Ext. Back garden - Nightime.

Julian stops in his tracks as he looks up at the huge alien spaceship hovering above his garden. Its huge underbelly light along with thousands of others totally illuminate the garden.
Julian walks directly under it, not taking his eyes off of it for a second. Daniel rushes into the garden and stops to stare just like Julian. Christina is still in bed a sleep. Julian continues to stare, mouth open, eyes wide as the ship hovers away a little before shooting away into space. Daniel and Julian stand still for a moment, in a trance. Julian snaps back to reality and looks around at the surrounding houses, they are still and quiet.

JULIAN
Didn’t they see it?

Julian turns to Daniel.

JULIAN
You saw it, Didn’t you?

DANEL
Oh yeah I saw it.

Julian looks back at the surrounding houses, every thing is silent as if nothing happened.

JULIAN
They didn’t see it.

Julian looks puzzled and faces upward at the sky.

56. Int. Julian’s Living room - Nightime.

Julian picks the camera up off the floor and takes out the tape. He moves over to the video recorder and puts in the tape pressing play. The picture flicks on and Julian sees the three beds with them silently sleeping. Suddenly the camera begins to shake and in the instant the white light appears the picture crackles and turns into an electronic snow. Julian angrily presses fast forward and shoots past the snow until it clears, the picture is a upside down view of the empty beds. Angrily Julian stops the tape. Daniel stands behind him.

JULIAN
Can you believe it.

DANIEL
The tape don’t matter anymore.

JULIAN
What do you mean it doesn’t matter anymore? It was the only proof we had.

DANIEL
Who else do you need to prove it to? We saw the spaceship. We know it’s aliens, All we’ve got to do now is figure out what they want from us. Come on, Christina’s made a cup of tea.

Julian looks at the snow filled television and sighs.

JULIAN
Your right.

57. Int. Julian’s kitchen - Nightime.

Julian, Daniel and Christina sit around the kitchen table drinking coffee. Inter cut lots of shots of the three talking.

JULIAN V.O
We sat there for hours talking about the ship and the dreams. Talking as if we had know each other for years. We worked out that the dreams were telling us something, but this something we had to figure out for ourselves.

JULIAN
Okay think about this logically, what is it there trying to say in our dreams.

CHRISTINA
Well all three of us were together in the darkness, and we went into the light.

DANIEL
The face was there.

JULIAN
And so were the images, think what do we see.

All three are silent for a moment, Christina shuts her eyes, concentration on her face.

CHRISTINA
I saw the ship and the face, there’s also something else, a dark place.

Julian looks up.

DANIEL
I’ve seen that image before.

JULIAN
I saw it to.

All three characters say ‘ A forest ‘ at exactly the same time. All the characters sink back in their chairs and as Julian’s voice over comes on we intercut lots of shots of the three of them talking.

JULIAN V.O
Christina was right the forest is what we see the most, Daniel and I agreed that was were we would find the answer.

58. Ext. Julian’s car - Daytime.

Julian is driving along a country road, fast.

59. Int. Daniel’s Bedroom - Daytime.

Daniel is sitting on his bed reading an alien magazine, his mum knocks on the door.

D MUM
So when are you going to tell me what you did last night?

Daniel looks up.

60. Int. Julian’s car - Nightime.

Julian is driving along a dark country road, Daniel is sitting next to him. Looking though the front window we see the forest looming towards us.

JULIAN
There it is.

61. Ext. Julian’s car - Nightime.

Julian’s car zooms down the road towards the forest.

62. Ext. Outside the forest - parked car - Nightime.

Julian and Daniel get out of the car. Julian opens the boot and takes out two torches. He hands one over to Daniel. Julian slams the boot shut and locks the car.

DANIEL
So where do we start?

JULIAN
I guess where ever instinct takes us.

DANIEL
Lead the way.

Julian enters the forest followed by Daniel.

63. Ext. Thick forest - Nightime.

Julian and Daniel walk through the forest.

DANIEL
So, this is the plan, were just going to wonder around the forest and hopefully stumble on something.

JULIAN
Maybe they can’t live in our atmosphere so they need us to find something out of their reach.

DANIEL
Something on the surface or under the ground?

JULIAN
That’s a good question.

The two continue to wonder through the forest flashing their torches around searching for something, anything. We follow them through the dark forest for a while.

DANIEL
This is ridiculous, we’re never going to find anything in this light, This would be easyer if Christina was here.

JULIAN
She didn’t want to come, and I was not going to force her to.

DANIEL
Strange girl.

JULIAN
No just scared.

Julian looks around and notices a log, he walks over to it and sits down.

JULIAN
Okay lets think this over.

Daniel walks over to him.

JULIAN
When we saw the forest did we see anything in particular?

Daniel shakes his head.

DANIEL
You’ve lived here all your life you must know your way around.

JULIAN
I used to play here when I was young, but I . . . .

Julian stops and looks deep in thought.

DANIEL
What? Julian are you okay?

JULIAN
What’s that over there?

Daniel turns and looks in the direction Julian is looking. All of a sudden Daniel appears to be in a trance. He slowly walks over to a clearing in the wood, Julian gets up and follows him.

64. Ext. Open area - Nightime.

JULIAN
Do you feel that?

DANIEL
That feeling of deja vu.

Daniel and Julian begin to examine the surrounding trees and bushes.

JULIAN
This is the place we met when we were six, look Daniel this is were you appeared, right here. ( Julian walks over to the spot and points to the ground.) Christina was over there and me? I was here.

They both stand in there spots and realise that there positions form a perfect triangle. Close up on both characters staring at the ground below there feet. Top shot of the two staring down.

DANIEL
It’s here under the ground.

Both fall to there knees and start frantically scraping away at the moist ground with their hands, ripping away the soil. Lots of shots are mixed together of each character digging, scraping away at the dirt trying to uncover what ever is hidden. Daniel takes a break and stands up looking at the horizon, The night is becoming lighter as the evening hours turn into early morning. Suddenly Julian hits something with his hand, it make a loud metallic ‘Clank’ sound.

JULIAN
 ( Shouting )
I’ve hit something!

Julian uncovers the metallic object buried in the ground. He trys to find the edges but the object is huge.

JULIAN
Jesus, This thing’s massive.

Daniel rushes over.

DANIEL
What do you think it is?

JULIAN
Looks like some kind of big metal object, how the hell am I meant to know?

Julian reaches down and finds a rim to a small door double the size of a cat flap. Julian pulls at the rim with all of his might and rips the door off of the object, sending him flying backwards. There’s gush of air as the hollow middle of the object adjusts pressure. Julian crawls over to look over the rim of the hole and to pear inside the object. Daniel nimbly follows his example and peer over the hole. Daniel gasps as he sees a small alien body lying on its back, eyes shut, mouth open. Julian gets to his knees and reaches down inside the ship taking the body in his hands he pulls it from the ship and cradles it in his arms staring at it.
Pull camera back to see Julian kneeling with the alien, Daniel standing behind him.

DANIEL
What is it?

JULIAN
It’s a baby, this must be what they wanted us to find, their lost child.

DANIEL
Is it alive?

JULIAN
No, it looks like it died a long time ago.

DANIEL
Does this mean were to late?

Daniel looks around at the sky and the forest.

JULIAN
I don’t know maybe they still want it.

DANIEL
It’s dead why would they want it?

JULIAN
I don’t know. I. . . . .

Daniel leaps at Julian and snatches the alien from him. With one quick movement Julian is knocked to the ground by Daniel.

DANIEL
They don’t want it if it’s dead!

Julian scrambles to his feet.

JULIAN
( Shouting )
Daniel what are you doing?

Daniel turns and runs into the forest.

JULIAN
( Shouting )

Julian begins to run after Daniel.

Cut to behind Julian who looks over his shoulder and stops running. Julian cups his hands over his mouth and shouts to Daniel.

JULIAN
( Shouting )
Daniel stop running we have to give it back or they’ll take it back.

Julian points to the sky and as he does the huge alien spaceship shoots over head following Daniel at an incredible pace. We follow Daniel as he looks over his shoulder and sees the ship following him. Face on shot as Daniel is followed by the ship, it’s main beam light following along the ground ready to beam him aboard. Daniel looks ahead and sees that he’s coming to a slope. He hugs the tiny alien body and makes a desperate leap over the edge. Directly below shot of Daniel leaping, falling down the hill and the alien ship missing him by meters as it shoots over head. Daniel slips and slides down the hill hitting the bottom hard. Daniel slowly gets to his feet and looks up the hill to see Julian following him down the hill. Daniel again begins the run through the woods, he looks up a sees that the forest is to thick for the alien ship to fly though, we see it hover above the trees as Daniel runs along. Daniel looks behind him again and sees Julian closing in on him and mistakenly runs into an open area of wood land. Realising his mistake Daniel slows trying to look for a way back into thick forest, he takes one more look behind him and Julian swings a punch to the side of his head. Daniel drops the alien body, which is caught by Julian, and falls to the floor. Julian drops to his knees cradling the body in his arms, just like his vision. Daniel gets back to his feet and picks up a log, Daniel lifts the log above his head ready to swing down upon Julian. Just when we think Daniel is about to crush Julian a beam of light forms a shield around him, knocking Daniel flying tough the air and hitting the floor hard. Daniel is knocked unconscious. Julian stares up at the light and sees it’s the main under belly light covering him. Long shot of the alien ship above the forest and Julian’s silhouette, The alien suddenly begins to float away from Julians arms it’s tiny silhouette flouting up towards the ship in the light. When the alien is taken into the ship the light disappears and the ship slowly moves off into space and is lost.
