For the upcoming 2002 Underexposed Competition, the top three winners will receive a free 6 month listing at Writerscriptnetwork.com, as well as a free listing in the magazine Players Marketplace which is mailed to 5,000 industry professionals. What is The Underexposed?

Let's be honest. There are a lot of bad films being made these days; some of them even win Oscars. Too many skilled writers go unrecognized.

Established in 1999, The Underexposed is a screenwriting contest honoring the best in screenwriting, giving props and praise to talented yet unknown (for now) artists. All feature-length scripts are eligible; there are no restrictions on topic or tone. Writers are generally encouraged to take risks.

The goal of this competition is simple: to expose and nurture hidden talent. To that end, The Underexposed offers three cash prizes:

First Place: $4000
Second Place: $1000
Third Place: $500

Winners also receive a free 6 month listing at writersscriptnetwork.com, and the magazine Players Marketplace.

In addition to offering prizes, The Underexposed also provides detailed feedback to all contestants; very few other contests offer detailed critiques. These comments are certainly subjective, but they are intended to give contestants a sense of what works well with their submissions and what does not work so well.

The Underexposed Screenwriting Competition is sponsored by JOMO productions.

What is JOMO Productions?

A modest film production company in Boston, JOMO wrapped shooting of "The Jerry Pearlswig Story" in 2000.  At this time there are no plans to release the documentary which followed an eccentric autograph-hound.

JOMO is currently in pre-pre-(did we say pre?)production of its first feature, tentatively titled, "Islands in the Stream."  For all Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton fans,  we are sorry to report that the film is not based on those country superstars.
