Music holds for me, and I'm pretty
sure for everyone, a little special place deep in my heart... Some
music you just feel, and some music gets you to realize things about this
world that were heretofore unknown. Below are some of my favourite
songs, that will always hold a place within me, for as long as I live,
some which have reasons as to why I feel like this for them, some I just
really like the tune
4 a.m.
- Our Lady Peace
I'm not
to sure why I chose 4 a.m., it could be that my father and myself
don't really have a father-son type relationship in my eyes. Yes,
he is my father, it's just that never of us have gone to the steps to
reach out to each other like we should. And I know that I will
miss him when he does pass away, but until then, I can always try to
improve my relationship with him.
Turn My
Head - Live
Have you ever
seen a person, guy or girl who just turned your head?? If you just
mellow out and listen to the lyrics to this song, you will be able to
picture that person, and feel what the song says. It is the most
simplistic of love songs; which is true singing as how Ed Kowalczyk (Live's
lead singer) wrote the song for his girlfriend while the band was
touring in the Middle East.
Lightning
Crashes - Live
As people have said, this was one of
the most powerful, most soulful and most poetic song of '94. Just
listening to the lyrics makes people cry, get tearful, or others to
remember. This is a song which everyone associates with themselves
for someone they have loved and lost, only to left with the memories of
them.
Pillar Of Davidson - Live
Yes, I am a big Live fan and
this song is just cool.
Freshmen - The Verve Pipe
This song is
the type of song that stays with you when your done listening to it.
The lyrics say it all, so there is no point in saying here. Just
the way it is song is very powerfully and emotionally, that if
you'll just listen to the lyrics, it would blow you away.
Iris
- Goo Goo Dolls
Iris,
just like Turn My Head, is a simple love song, one that everyone
can relate to because we have all been to that point, where all we want
to do is be "with" that special someone and just be yourself,
not some psuedo-facade that you try to be.
California
- Semisonic
Powerful tune
about life in the Big Time, where one must destroy everything they are
to become successful, or in oher words ow success destroys some people.
Desperado
- The Eagles
I love The
Eagles music, Desperado showed me that no matter what
happens, you must always show yourself for who you truly are.
Not That Different - Colin Raye
This song has a simple premise.
No matter how different we are on the outside, we are all the same on
the inside as the chorus says....I laugh, I love, I hope, I try, I hurt,
I need, I feel, I cry.
Turn The Page - Bob Seger
A friend of mine, Roger LeBlanc, said
that this song is truly the story of life on the road as a star,
establishing this from years he, himself, spent on the road with his
band. I tend to agree with him, as the song is very haunting with
the lament of Mr. Seger, and his never-ending road life.
What's She Doing, Now - Garth
Brooks
Everyone has someone whom will always
be with them, even after they have parted ways. This is the basic
song along that theme, with Garth Brooks thinking back to a woman long
past in his life, wondering if she still thinks of him, like he thinks
of her.
