Alasdair and Kevin play brothers who are abducted by the evil and ugly Shandrillas while on a camping trip. On the alien ship they meet a character played by Klea Scott. Klea's character is never really explained, however it's implied that she's from the 19th century, by the way she's dressed. She says she's been on the ship a "very long time."
Les Lye plays Sam, a burglar who is also abducted in the show's opening scene. Sam doesn't think he's on a spaceship. He thinks he's in jail!
Vanessa and Doug are cute little furry aliens who have also been abducted. They speak to Alasdair directly with their minds, and when they do, their noses light up like Rudolph!
On the ship, anything the boys imagine can happen. They can make their holding cell look like their bedroom at home, dress however they want, and even walk through walls. Alasdair seems to have a better time figuring this stuff out. Kevin bonks his head a few times!
The aliens are not totally unkind to their prisoners. They ask Alasdair and Kevin if they are hungry. All the boys have to do is imagine what they want to eat. Unfortunately, they leave it to Alasdair to choose their meal!
The aliens say they want to keep the boys as pets. They fly through black holes in stars to get from place to place, controlling the ship with their minds. They take Sam and Kevin to a planet with some very gross inhabitants, and the bad guys end up selling them!
Luckily, Alasdair learns how to control the ship with the help of his furry friends. Sam, an expert burglar, is able to pick the lock of their cell, and with the help of another prisoner, a boy with horns, they escape!
Alasdair flies the ship through a black hole and escapes the pursuing bad guys, but will they be able to get back to Earth? We'll never know. As with most TV pilots, the show never made it.
Well, pretty cheesy, but any YCDTOTV fan would find it very entertaining! It reminds me a little of Dr. Who. It has the typical early-80's synthesizer soundtrack, some ok (and some not so ok) video effects, and very little in the way of editing. Still, as obscure as it is, UFO Kidnapped was well worth the wait! It's great seeing Alasdair act in a setting other than You Can't Do That On Television, and it was nice seeing Kevin and Alasdair pal around and fight like real brothers.
Keep checking back for some video captures and more sound clips from UFO Kidnapped
including a look at Alasdair's first ever on-screen kiss!
