Abi was introduced as the deaf girl whom Reva had befriended when she turned up alive in Amish country. She came to Springfield for an operation at Cedars, where she fell in love with Rick Bauer. Once she found out about Rick's little sexual liaison with Blake she gave Dr. Bauer the big fat ole boot. Only Dr. Feelbad didn't stop chasing and grabbing and pawing her. Abi eventually forgave Rick and the two were growing closer to marriage, but Abi, trying to help out Michelle and Jesse, went down to Jesse's garage where Jesse's pal Roy tried to rape her. Abi was seriously traumatized, but was determined to bring her attacker to justice. But Roy kept haunting her at every turn, and when he was released on a technicality, Abi grabbed a gun and plugged the guy. Abi took a plea bargain and went to jail, where she met Selena Davis, an ex-prostitute who helped defend her against some sinister guards. Before going to the slammer, Abi also got a quickie marriage to Rick. Now she's waiting to get out of prison, as the WSPR tape that cleared her has been found.
