Interested in what I have to say about the movies he's been in?? Well you've come to ther right place then. On this page you'll find my opnions about the movies that Joshua Jackson has made, but please remember that these are MY opinions and they're what I thought of the movies. You don't have to agree with me, but if you don't please don't go trashing the page in the guestbook.
Good grief!! Josh certainly has a knack for picking films where he helps some marine animal. In Andre, Josh plays Mark Baker who at first wants to kill the seal Andre, but then decides that he loves it and decides to help it. My least favourite scene is the scene where he tries to smoke. Stupid idea is all I have to say which should give you an idea of how I feel about smoking. I'm thinking that this film was filmed fairly close to the filming of D2 because Josh looks pretty similar in both movies. Definitely not one of his best films, but if you like Magic In the Water, you'd probably like Andre, although Andre has a much better plot and I liked it slightly more than I liked Magic In the Water. This is another film that the whole family can watch.
I'm not going to do this for every Dawson's Creek episode because that would make this page just unbelievably long so I just decided to do it for the premiere.
Holy geez!! Josh's days of doing G-rated films are pretty much over now! I found the show amazing. It was so refreshing to see teenagers talking like teenagers and not the way that they're often portrayed on other shows. And I can't believe that critics called it racy. Do they think teens today don't sit and talk about their little forbidden word, sex?? OK, maybe not 24/7 like Pacey, Joshua Jackson's character did, but sure, it's on our minds. They were talking the way me and my friends do, which made the show really easy to relate to.
And as for Joshua Jackson. Although he was a little anxious about Tamara or Ms. Jacobs, he was really good in it. It was a refreshing change from Charlie Conway, although a lot of the gestures and mannerisms were nearly identical. Personally this show gets 2 very big thums up for it's truth and originality. Halfway through the premiere, Jen already says the word penis to her atheist grandmother. Now how often do you see this in an adolescent drama??
This page would not be complete without a review of the Mighty Ducks Trilogy. In my opinion, these movies started Josh off to bigger and better things. In the first movie, we're introduced to Charlie "Spazzway" Conway who although has potential as a hockey player, sucks crap at the beginning. Add in Gordon Bombay, assigned to teach the hockey team for community service. Bombay hates the kids at first, but soon realizes how attached he is to them and who can blame them :c) In this moive, you see just how much potential Joshua Jackson has an actor and can't help but laugh when they go through the slapstick comedy. And then there's that little romance between Casey (Charlie's mom ) and Bombay. Ugh. Oh and then there's that jerk O'Riley. Geez, winning is everything to this guys. It's cute and I definitely recommend it to anyone. It's got just enough hockey violence to keep your brother happy too.
The Ducks are back as you can tell and this time they're on their way to play in the Goodwill Games. I'm pretty sure I don't have to tell you whether they win or not. After all, it is a Disney movie. Even with all the trouble they have with Bombay's identity crisis and the "big, bad" Iceland team, they still manage to truimph. This is my favourite Ducks movie. I think it's because it's filled with even more laughs than the first one. I loved it when Dwayne got whipped cream all over him and you have to love Russ's knuckle puck. Oh and watch for the bloopers in the film that the editors don't pick up, it makes it even more funny!! Oh and watch Ms. Mckay try to act, it's even funnier!! Oh and if you haven't noticed, Gordon Bombay has this tendency to fall in love with the rest of the females in the film. In D1, it was Casey, and in D2, it was the Iceland chic and kinda Ms. Mckay. Wonder who it's going to be in D3...................
Holy gooberness!! Josh is all grown up!! Compare him to the first Ducsk movie and you will notice the foot of growth as well as the major voice change!! Like my friend Nerms said, he has lost some of the sweetness that made him so lovable in the first two movies, but you still have to love him, even with his major attitude problems in this one. Charlie's throwing hissy fits all over the ice when things don't go his way with the new coach and you don't really feel any sympathy for him cuz it's his attitude that causing them. And why is so worked up about a damn "C". It's a freakin' letter! This was my least favourite of the trilogy. I think it's because of the sense of closure that you get when you watch it and that it's probably the last Duck movie because they're all too old now. *sigh* Also, I hated Margot Finley in this one. Don't get me wrong, I think that Margot Finely is one of the newest and young talented actresses out there, but as the politically correct "Linda Chavez", I hated her. No it doesn't have anything to do with the fact that she gets to kiss Joshua Jackson. Believe me, I would rather have her kiss him than some other actress, but it's her character. I do love Portman's little penalty box scene though *grin* Oh, and has anyone else noticed Bombay's little habit of abandoning the Ducks in their times of need?? Gooberhead, wonder how much he got paid to show up for the 15 minutes that he did in D3. Other than Linda, D3 was alright. And as for Bombay's little love affairs, miraculously, he didn't have one in here. Then again, it is kinda hard to find someone in the grand total of 15 minutes that he showed up. Personally, I would have turned down the job to keep coaching the Ducks.
I saw Ronnie and Julie and I loved it. It's out on video, but so far I haven't been able to find it. Ronnie and Julie is like Romeo and Juliet, except Ronnie is a hockey player played by Josh, and Julie is a figure skater, played by Margot Finley. Personally, I think that girl is incredibly lucky and I would do anything to change places with her for that movie. Their parents are fighting for the position of Mayor of the town when the two meet and fall in love. It's so romantic. I loved it and it didn't hurt that Josh was so cute in there. Anyways, they fall in love and unlike the real story, they live happily ever after, even after this creep named Paul Reese spies on them because he's obsessed with Julie. This is my favourite Josh movie. Even though the sets were really cheesy (especially the ice rink) I loved it and you can't help but fall in love with Josh and Margot.
As for Robin of Locksley, Josh plays the bad dude. It's not a great movie, but I didn't mind watching it. I wonder why? Actually it was pretty good. It stars Devon Sawa as well, another cute guy from Canada. What happens is that Devon is Robin and his parents win the lottery and they end up sending Devon to this rich snob school. A this school, Josh is like the head of the snobs because his father earns something like 7 billion dollars!!!!! a year. He was kind of like Prince John. Josh's character was called John Prince, Jr. I have to say that Josh is really cute in this flim, but a decent haircut wouldn't have hurt. His hair was way too long and it was uncombed half of the time. It's a good thing that his adorable face kept me happy the rest of the movie. Anyways all in all good always truimphs over evil and Devon kicks Josh's butt in an archery contest, *sigh*, but it's a pretty good movie. Kinda corny, but overall, pretty good.
OK, Josh is in Scream 2!! No it's not a huge part like the one he had in D3 so don't get all hyper and buy a movie ticket just to see him cuz it's only about 4 minutes long, not even I think , and he only says maybe 3 lines, but he's still great in there. I think I liked him in there because he was playing a character of his own age and not someone younger like he's always done in the past. It seemed more natural to watch him in a university class and ironically, discussing about how much sequels suck. Oh, and the other guy says T2, not D2 in case you were wondering. I'm not saying that the Mighty Ducks trilogy sucked ( of course it didn't!!), but while we're on the topic of Scream 2, I'll give you a little critique of my own. Frankly, it sucked. Sorry, no offence to anyone, but hello??? The story line was completely gone and it just sucked. I liked it and all that, but if you think about afterwards, it sucked and I almost went to the box office and asked for my money back, but I stopped myself cuz I'm only 15 and I'm not even supposed to be allowed in there cuz it's rated R here in Canada. So personally, I would have rather seen Titanic that Scream 2. I was expecting something like the first one, which I loved, but Josh kinda redeemed the movie a tiny bit :c)
OK, no offence or anything to anyone, but this was CHEESY. Sure, Josh was decent in it and it was nice to hear him be called by his real name, but puh-lease give me a break. And the Oreos?? I don't think so. You do feel a twinge of sympathy for Josh and his sister at the beginning of the movie when their workaholic dad completely ignores them, but after Ashley, josh's little sister, starts raving about Orky, forget it. That dumb monster was really pissing me off and this thing was so unrealistic. Oh, and digging a hole to China?? Whatever. That old Indian dude was beginning to give me the creeps too. If some old person asked me to push their wheelchair through the forest like that just to find a totem pole, I wouldn't have done it. One critics way of rating the movie was "Magic in the Water sinks with its oreos". I'm going to have to agree. I recommend you go watch Scream 2 before you watch this one. It's supposed to be a family film, but with a plot like this drawn out into an hour and a half, *yawn* comes to mind. Oh and if some gooberhead, smelly sea creature or whatever it happens to be, tries to take my Oreo creme, it would not live to see the next minute
Awww, what a babyface. Crooked Hearts was Joshua Jackson's big screen debut at the age of 11. He looked so adorable!! There's not much to say about this film cuz Josh is only in the beginning and in two flashbacks around the middle of the film, but it's not bad for his film debut.
