Invaders From Mars | ||
June 30, 1986 | Cannon Films | Tobe Hooper |
Starring: Jimmy Hunt, Karen Black, Hunter Carson, Laraine Newman, Timothy Botoms, Louise Fletcher, Bud Cort | ||
This film was meant to be the Special Effects film of the year by award winning John Dykstra. It turned out to be the effects flop of the year thanks to the wonderfully phony Mr. Potato Head monsters that are suppose to scare people. I was able to watch a lot of the filming of this movie and it had tremendous potential. A good cast, good director and good financial backing. But, none of that seemed to mesh together. What was the result, a very cheesy and boring film. The only good parts in this movie are the lines that Jimmy Hunt gets to use. It is the story of a young boy who witnesses the landing of a space ship. But when he tries to tell the adults in town, they won't believe him. Soon he comes to realize that the martians are actually taking over many of the townspeople, including his parents. It comes to a climatic end when the Army does battle with the Alien spacecraft. Half a star rating. RH |
