This page is dedicated to what I believe to be the greatest child actor of the late forties and early fifties. Jimmy Hunt, appeared in over 30 films during this time. Some of his most famous roles were in The Mating of Millie with Glenn Ford and Evelyn Keyes, The Fuller Brush Man with Red Skelton and Janet Blair, Family Honeymoon with Claudette Colbert and Fred MacMurray and many other films. His most watched films are probably Cheaper By The Dozen and it's sequel Belles On Their Toes , starring Clifton Webb, Myrna Loy, Jeane Crain, and Barbara Bates.

But, if you ask Jimmy what his favorite roles are he would easily say, Lone Hand with Joel McCrea and Barbara Hale and Invader From Mars with Helena Carter and Arthur Franz. Jimmy is probably most notably know for the later, Invaders From Mars which is considered by many a Sci-fi Cult Classic. I have talked with numerous people who saw this movie as a kid and have related the terror they experienced trying to sleep that night. It leaves a lot to be desired when compared to the special effects of today, but it really takes you into the heart and soul of David MacClean (the child) and shows you first hand the terror of knowing something evil and yet having no one believe you. You can find out more about this movie and it's story at the Invaders From Mars - Web Page.

The thing that makes seeing Jimmy so wonderful is the fact that even though he is acting, you can tell he is being natural. You see, Jimmy never took acting classes and never aspired to be in movies. He was chosen out of his school, because he resembled Van Johnson as a child and they needed someone to play the role as Johnson as a kid in the film High Barbaree. Thus, if you ever watch one of his films, please observe the natural ability that this great actor had.

I will go into more details about his life both on and off the screen in his biography, but for this intro I just wanted it to be noted that even though many people have overlooked this actor from that era he is not to be counted out. In the September 7, 1950 The Daily Variety was quoted for his role in Louisa with Ronald Reagen, "Jimmy Hunt's performance in Louisa is a model for all moppets who overact to ponder."

You might ask, "who are you and why do this page?" I am Jimmy's youngest son, Ron. I have recently been more involved with the entertainment industry and have really been trying to get more involved with my dad's films. Growing up, you tend to take it for granted that dad was in the movies. Now, as an adult I realize what that means and what it is all about. And with the help of my dad (Jimmy) I have been able to compile this page and many others on the subject of movies in the 40's and 50's. If you would like to know more about me you can visit my home page, Ron Hunt's Wacky Web and if you would like to know more about movies from the 40's and 50's please visit A Time Of Innocence - Web Page.

I hope you enjoy these pages and eventually have an opportunity, if you haven't yet, to see him in one on his films. Included in this site:

I have information on Jimmy's complete biography.
Reviews of most of his movies.
