Waitresses, do they really deserve tips? (Well, we know for SURE some of them don't!) Think about what they do, they ask us what we want, and they give it to us. Then they ask us how our meal is, and then they give us a check. We shouldn't be tipping them for a good meal, I'd rather go back to the kitchen and give the cook a few bucks saying how much I enjoyed his/her meal! I work at a popcorn place. I do similar things as the waiter. I greet the people, I ask what they would like, I prepare it, and work the cash register. (I have a cool job ^_^) I don't get tips, but the waiter does? Weird. It's not my job to pay them, I pay for the food! It's the manager's responsibility to pay them. So what if they only get minium wage? I do and almost all my friends do. It's better then nothing! I understand giving a tip if you have more then 5 in your group, for example, a hockey or football or softball team wins an important, so they go celebrating at a resturant ordering lots. They should give a tip. My friend and I got somewhere and get each get a small fries and a drink, and we have to tip them? Fine, a dollar at the most. But then all the waiters and waitresses go on talk shows complaining how they don't get big enough tips. Shut up! It costs me about $4.00 for my small fries and pop. (Actually, I got chocolate milk.) That's almost an hour of my pay for staying 20 minutes in your resturant! Not fair! Plus I have to leave a stupid tip. Grr! And considering the person waiting on me can do five tables(?) in an hour! Let's see, $5.40 as pay, plus 2 bucks at each table in tips. $15.40 an hour? Ugh! (Okay, so I don't know how many tables they can do in a hour, but I'm expecting at least two, meaning at least $9.40 an hour, if they live where I live and get two dollars per table.)
Okay, what about pizza delivery people? Do they deserve tips? Maybe. Depends how big the order is. And the people that do your hair? Only if they do a good job! If it's crappy, do NOT give them a tip. Perhaps I'm just biased, as I don't get tips. (Occassionaly I get a couple of pennies.) But why should I pay for it? That's why someone hired them!
