AS: How did you first get involoved in acting?
JJ: My brother's manager decided to pick me up and hook me up with the same agent. I got some commercials, but my first major role was General Hospital.
AS: What's the best thing about acting?
JJ: Being able to just become somebody else for awhile.
AS: What's the worst part?
JJ: Having to do schoolwork at the same time.
AS: Are you friends' with many kids in showbiz or are most of your friends outside of it?
JJ: Most of my friends are in the business because I don't meet many that aren't.
AS: What's something that you look for when you're reading a script?
JJ: If the role is realistic and if the script is enjoyable to read--if it grabs the people's attention.
AS: Do you want to continue to do feature films?
JJ: Definitly. I'd like all kinds, really, to get different aspects of different types of films. I've always wanted to do a western.
AS: What's your trick to memorizing your lines?
JJ: Memory is just like a muscle--you just have to work it out a lot. It gets easier the more you do it.
AS: Do you have a favorite actor?
JJ: Christian Slater is my idol. He's really gripping. And Daniel-Day Lewis just blew me away with his acting in "In The Name of The Father".
AS: Do you want to stay on the acting end of the business or do you want to get behind the camera?
JJ: Hopefully, someday I'll direct. I'm not planning on quitting acting - hopefully I'll do both.
AS: A lot of celebrity kids say that they have an interest in directing. Why do you think that is?
JJ: I think when you're around that, when the director does something, you start to think how you would do it. There's almost a curiosity to get the chance to put it all together yourself.
AS: What's in your future?
JJ: Maybe when I get older I'll direct or get into music. But right now I want to concentrate on my acting.
