Jonathan Jackson - Chat Log #1 taken from Jonathan's online chat at the ABC Auditorium in January of 1996

OnlineHost: Welcome to the ABC Auditorium. This evening we're talking with Jonathan Jackson, who portrays Lucky Spencer on GENERAL HOSPITAL. Jonathan can also be seen starring in the made for television movie, "Legend of the Ruby Silver," which will air on ABC on Saturday, January 13. Welcome, Jonathan!

Question: Are you good friends with the girl who plays Emily on General Hospital ?

ABCStar: Sure, we're friends!

Question: Any plans for movies ?

ABCStar: That is my plan for the future. This coming Saturday, January 13, I'll be in the TV movie The Legend of the Ruby Silver which will air on ABC.

Question: Do you have a girlfriend

ABCStar: No, not at the moment.

Question: What's up for Lucky this year ?

ABCStar: Right now, he has some problems with gambling coming up. I really don't know what the future holds for Lucky -- the writers are responsible for the storylines.

Question: How do you think that Lucky has matured by having to deal with the separation of his parents?

ABCStar: I think he now sees his parents as being more human. He's is at that age when he realizes his parents are not perfect and can make mistakes.

Question: What was it like to receive a Emmy?

ABCStar: It was a hard feeling to describe, mostly I felt overwhelmed. The best part was having Tony Geary and Genie Francis (Luke & Laura) be the ones who presented me with the award.

Question: Hi. First of all, I have to say I think you are very cute. Do you get a lot of girls chasing after you?

ABCStar: Thanks. I don't really get chased but once in awhile some girls at the mall will recognize who I am. Most everyone is pretty nice.

Question: Who is your favorite person to work with on the show?

ABCStar: I would have to say Tony Geary (Luke).

Question: Hello Jonathan - this is Jack - you were great in Camp Nowhere -would you like to do more theatrical movies?

ABCStar: Yes, I like the medium. It's much slower paced and relaxed and you have much more time to work on what you are doing.

Question: what is it like to work with a cast of mainly adults?

ABCStar: It's different than working with kids. I like it. I like learning things from people. It's easier for me to learn from adults because they have had more experiences.

Question: What is it like acting on a Soap Opera?

ABCStar: The soaps are a lot faster than movies. You only have one rehearsal and then you do it. You have to really be prepared.

Question: Are you going on the star cruise this year?

ABCStar: I'm not sure yet.

Question: Do you still keep in touch with the stars of Camp Nowhere?

ABCStar: A couple of them. I talk to them every once in awhile. I'm still really good friends with Devin Oatway and Hillary Tuck.

Question: What made you decide to audition for a soap?

ABCStar: I wasn't working. I was auditioning for everything in my age range and I happened to audition for GH.

Question: Do you ever play any practical jokes on anyone on the set?

ABCStar: No specific joke comes to mind. The mood on the set is always very good though.

Question: What is your TV movie about?

ABCStar: It's about 4 people going up a mountain and mining for treasure. I play one of the four.

Question: How is it like being a young actor?

ABCStar: It's hard in the sense that you have to do twice the work, you still have your schoolwork to do on the set. But the reason I do it is because I like acting so much but it is hard work.

Question: Would you like to work with your brother in film or on tv?

ABCStar: Yes definitely. Someday I would love to do a project with him.

Question: Do you have an AOL account, or plan to get one?

ABCStar: No, I don't have an AOL account.

Question: How did you get the job?

ABCStar: I had an audition with the casting director and just got Lucky (no pun intended!)

Question: Do you think that you are at all like your character?

ABCStar: I think that the similarities are that we are both independent minded and we can both think on our feet pretty well.

Question: Is Luke just as fun in real life as his character is?

ABCStar: He's more fun, and funnier!

Question: Did you enjoy working with Christopher Llyod in Camp Nowhere?

ABCStar: Yeah, I did. He was a really cool guy.

Question: Can you tell us the plans for the Spencer family in 1996?

ABCStar: I don't know what the plans are -- only the writers do.

Question: How long do you think you are going to stay on GH?

ABCStar: There is no specific time, but I'm not leaving anytime soon.

Question: Do you have any inside information on whether Sonny and Brenda are going to get back together?

ABCStar: I would like to see that, but who knows?

Question: How did you like doing the movie Camp Nowhere? Was it your first film on the big screen?

ABCStar: Yes, Camp Nowhere was my first big screen experience.

Question: I'm doing a speech on soap operas. Is there anything important that I should know?

ABCStar: Conflict is the most important thing.

Question: So how long have you been with the show?

ABCStar: I've been on GH for about 2 and a half years.

Question: Have you ever attended acting school?

ABCStar: Yes, I've taken acting classes.

Question: What grade are you in? How do you go to school?

ABCStar: I go to school on the set with a tutor.

Question: Is it hard memorizing all those lines?

ABCStar: That's about the hardest part of the job. Memory is a muscle that you have to exercise to make stronger.

Question: What sports are you into?

ABCStar: I like basketball, baseball, football. I kind of go with the season, so right now I'm into football. I'd like to see Green Bay win the Super Bowl this year.

Question: What's it like being the son of the most well known couple on ABC Daytime?

ABCStar: There wasn't very much pressure because I didn't know how famous the characters of Luke and Laura were. It would have been much more pressure if I had known about their huge following. I didn't know that they were the most famous couple on soaps.

Question: Hey Jon, I was reading an article on how your parents kept you grounded, have your parents always been so supportive about your career?

ABCStar: Yes, they have been supportive of any choices I have made, unless they have been too far out there.

Question: Do you get mobbed in public like many other stars?

ABCStar: When I go back to my home state of Washington, more people know me there because of the local publicity. But in general, no, not really.

Question: Why did you cut your hair I think it was fine ?

ABCStar: Because I was getting tired of taking care of it.

Question: If you could create your own storyline..what would it be?

ABCStar: I would like to work with Maurice Benard (Sonny) a little more but I haven't really thought of specific storylines.

Question: Do you answer any fan mail personally?

ABCStar: Yes, I sign postcards and send them back to fans. You can write to me at General Hospital 4151 Prospect Avenue, Hollywood, CA 90027.

Question: What kind of girls do you like?

ABCStar: I don't have a specific type. I like someone who has a nice smile and a good laugh. Someone who likes to have fun.

Question: How did you get started in acting, and do you have any advice for anyone who is thinking of going into acting?

ABCStar: I started acting at a local agency in Oregan. My advice would be that if you want to be serious about it, be prepared to give up some other things. You have to take this seriously.

ABCStar: We have time for one more question.....

Question: You are awesome. Do your friends treat you any differently because you are on TV ?

ABCStar: Some of my friends back home where I used to live think that I have a big head or I'm cocky because I can't keep in such close contact with them. It's really hard because I'm in a different state now and I'm working a lot. My true friends don't treat me any differently and those are true friends.

ABCStar: Thank you joining us this evening. Don't forget to watch Jonathan every Monday through Friday on GENERAL HOSPITAL and this coming Saturday evening in the TV movie The Legend of the Ruby Silver.
