MY LIST
A Life Less Ordinary (Ewen McGregor is great, a very different film rather bizarre also starring Cameron Diaz, made by the same people that did Trainspotting. It's a love story with a few billion twists, great idea which i think worked brilliantly. Released 1997)
Alien Resurection (okay, it may be a bit to 'hollywood' but i liked it. It just shows what Hollywood can do if they use a brilliant french director! Winona didn't work for me though...she was just...wrong...)
American History X ( i thought this film was great... i liked the simplicity of the story, the way rather than focusing on characters, it looked more at the issues and complexities of their world... instead of being a film about white suppremacy it was just about hate... Edward Norton was great, oh so sexy...and edward furlong was half way decent too...)
Apocalypse Now (brilliant, starring Marlon Brando
and Martin Sheen. Set during the Vietnam War, made in 1979. The is also the making of Apocolypse Now available, called Heart of Darkness - same title as the book which the film was based on) Belle De Jour (french film starring the beautiful Catherine Deneuve, great film. About a woman who is frigid when ever confronted with sex by her husband, so she goes out and becomes an upper class prostitute instead...)
Blues Brothers (a classic, great film with great
music. If you haven't seen this well... you haven't lived... *sm* it's a film that you either love or you can't stand... a film that has some of THE best chase scenes ever...) Breakfast Club (one of the many in the reign of
great 80's films. Basically just about a bunch of teenagers on saturday morning detention.... need i say more?? ) Chasing Amy (third in the 'Jay and Silent Bob'
films, very good and very funny. Story revolves around two cartoon artists, Ben Affleck and Jason Lee - i think... one of them ends up falling in love with this girl - Joey Lauren Adams - who turns out to be a lesbian... it's a great movie...released 1997) Citizen Kane (brilliant film from
the 40's, most innovative film of it's time, both starring and directed by a very young Orson Wells. Story centres around the life of Charles Foster Kane a rich and successful man who dies alone...) City of Lost Children (French film by the same people - Luc Besson - that made Dellicatesson, therefore is bizarre and brilliant... it's hard to describe but it's just magical)
Clerks (the first in the 'Jay and Silent Bob' films,
great as well *sm* very clever. B&W, set in a 7-11 type store...not really any plot, but that's one of the things that makes this film so good...released 1994...i think...) Clueless (good film...if this is what America is
really like... I'm scared. Starring Alyssia Sylverstone and based on the novel Emma, released 1995) Das Boot (aka The Boat) (3 1/2 hour long German film set during WW2 in a German submarine, it is intense and amazing... highly recommended... orignally released a while ago, but was rereleased more recently as the directors cut. Was also on TV once...but it had english voices dubbed over it, which only COMPLETELY ruined the film as the intensity of the German language was gone)
Dazed and Confused (cool... hehe... *sm* this was released in about 93-94, starring one of the London brothers -Jason or Jeremy - Joey Lauren Adams, Posey Parker and LOTS more.. set in the late 70's on the last day of school... basically just a fairly meaningless film with lots of drugs, sex and alcohol...ALWAYS fun...*sm*) Dead Man (one of the greatest films of all time, draws you in and gives you a lot, one of my fav's. Released about 95 - 96, starring Johnny Depp, B&W....full of lots of famous people and lots of violence...)
Doom Generation (damn wierd, very seedy...this films was basically more or less about sex and violence.... sex more than violence...yet the sex was more or less violent...and the violence had to do with sex.... does that make sense? anyway... not greatly stomachable... unless you're into that kinda thing...about 1992 i think...) Dream For An Insomniac (a very 'Brothers Macmullen' type film, except this time they're Italian not Irish. A great film about a girl - who in ways reminds me of me...- who can't sleep and has absolutely no luck in love until she meets the man with blue eyes. A great film, with Ione Sky and Jennifer Aniston. )
East Of Eden (James Dean...his very first movie made in the early 50's. Revolves around two brothers fighting for their fathers love and the love of a girl. Based on the John Steinbeck novel of the same name)
Empire Records (good teen flick *sm* tis cool, set in a record store. made in about 96, with Liv Tyler and loads more including the english guy from Grease 2 aka the Cool Rider...*sm*)

Freeway (a brillant twist on the Little Red Riding Hood fairy tale, a great film with some classic lines, just one big satire really... you either love it or just don't get it. Starring Reese Witherspoon of SFW fame and Keifer Sutherland of Lost Boys fame.)
Gattaca (this film wasn't brilliant, yet it had a good stong plot and also Ethan looked mighty fine..*sm* set in the future, a time when you are able to control the genetic features of your unborn child, so it's a time where there's a world full of perfect people...and those that haven't been manipulated with...well...they're just weird...)
Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (if you are female and have not seen this, you should be ashamed.... starring Helen Hunt and some amazing hair... and Sarah Jessica Parker... it's about dancing, guys, getting revenge, guys and success and more guys...) Hate (french film, kinda wierd, very good. Set in the ghetto's of france in the early 90's, revolving around 3 teenage guys who get in way over their heads) Heathers (where Christian Slater got to perform
his evil, sexiest best! With Winona Ryder and Shannon Doherty. about 3 girls called Heather, a girl called Veronica, a guy called JD, alot of teenage suicide and a lot of croquet) Heavenly Creatures (a very good, slightly odd film
from New Zealand, starring Kate Winslett before she went big, a true story about two girls who have a bizarre kind of relationship and who are just basically kinda mad) The Ice Storm (set in the 60's or 70's, this is a film that deals with the family and stuff. Starring Kevin Cline, Sigorney Weaver and Christina Ricci, it is a great drama with very stong characters.)
Indiana Jones Series (all great, 'top action'what can i say??? Harrison Ford is da man... gotta love em...) Kalifornia (fairly disturbing film, Brad Pitt not
looking his best but he makes one hell of a psychotic. Also starring David Duchovany of X-Files fame and Juliette Lewis. About a guy who is writing a book about serial killers and goes road tripping around to check out some freaky assed locations, it just so happens that he is sharing a lift with one...go figure!) Kiss or Kill (winner at the AFI's for best film, an amazing Australian film.... highhly
recommended... starring Francis O'Conner and Matt Day. A great film, uses a different filming technique with lots of jump cuts, making the footage disjointed...also stars Barry Otto)
Kissed (a bizarre film that deals with love, sex and... necrophelia (sp?). It's avery complex and slow moving film, yet great performances on all behalves. Opens up a world that is never considered by most...and i guess there's a reason for that...)
Love and Other Catastrophes (Good Australian film
set in Melbourne...with Francis O'Conner, Matt Day, Kimberly Davis and lots more... made by amatuer film makers and it's an amazing acomplishment if i do say so myself!) Love in Limbo (set here in Perth, with Aden Young
- yummy*sm*- rather funny, very Australian. Also stars a very neat and young Russel Crowe with an Irish accent... about 3 guys who think about sex a lot, set in the 50's... they also make a visit to Kalgoolies infamous Hay Street - Red light district) Mallrats (the second in the 'Jay and Silent Bob'
films, very good. Starring on of the London brothers, Jason Lee, Shannon Doherty, Ben Affleck, Joey Lauren Adams and Kevin Smith. Set in a mall - logically..not really about anything... but brilliant non the less!) Marquise (French film, very good, Sophie Marceau is brilliant)

Maclachlan, Keifer Sutherland, Sheryl Lee and David Lynch)
