Well, Julia Diggers gets to her usual yearly appointment on time. Once a year, she is able to interact with her family, and by no means does she miss it. Elsewhere, Gina and Britanny are hangin' with the werewolves at the Garden of Eden. They're there to tell Jetta, the last fertile werewolf, that her father Brendan has escaped his prison. Back home for them.
Upon arrival at the homestead, there's banter, and then Julia appears. Hugs all 'round. Gina and Brit get into an inquisitive mood and ask their parents how they met. Thus the tale begins...
One day, waaaaay way back, the young magician Theo Diggers had decided to wander about after a hard year of studying. He came across a warrior's tournament and was instantly attracted to the female of the contest. But when she came under a potentially lethal attack, he cast a spell to protect her. This disqualified her from the tournament, and she walked away peeved. Theo followed, but was snagged in her trap. They talked and decided to adventure together. The young warrior's name was Julia, and she was equally interested in the naïve lad as he was her.
After a battle in which both their lives were saved by the other, their bond had fairly cemented. (Likewise their finances.) And many adventures after that, they fell deeply and truly in love with each other, and had married happily ever after. (Well, except for that whole Lich-King episode which almost tore the family apart, which is coming up. Eh.)
Gina, Britanny and Brianna all get mushy over the story. A quick sideline to how the Lich-King was created starts. Apparently, he was once their grandfather, and one day while conducting an experiment, he accidentally became the most EVIL being ever. Since then, he's been wanting his son's body to possess forever. Sucks, eh? (A better and more thorough story of this is told in the GD-18 comic that came out in 1998.)
Then, Brianna gets a great idea that could possibly bring their mother back for good instead of just one day a year. It involves the "curse" machine (seen in issues 3 and 4). Bri and Gina get to work while Brit and Theo sigh.
Finally (over in Utah), the vampires Vlad, Natasha and a cool skater one named Dirk teleport from the Realm of the Undead. Their objective: to lure Theo Diggers into their trap.
The cover is nothing special, displaying a youthful Theo Diggers and his warrior girlfriend Julia.
The interior art is top-notch, natch. No qualms here.
This is a good comic that shows what flirtation and love can do to a blossoming relationship. It also has a half-decent fight in it. But the main attraction is the story around Julia and Theo. Mr. Perry has written a great comic this time out, and it is recommended to anyone who ever experienced "love at first sight" or, at the least, a crush on someone whom they came to love and marry.
Oh, and you have GOT to see the GD-18 photo album in here. I love "Britanny's Favorite Pillow"!!!!!
(out of four.)
Toroidal, "Tok Mak", and Ethernet-Card - sounds technical but familiar...(???)
Bigbooté - a character from "The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai"
