To the reader who by now feels I have run far afield in my assay of TV humor, let me ask, "What humor?" The only thought-provoking wit is from NBC's David Brinkley, a newsman. As far as that goes, I have found what sense of humor there is in television to be among the public affairs people. Because they can experience rage they can also discern the absurdity of a situation. The "creative folk" on the variety shows have a greater dedication: the killing of time.
