Arrival of Radditz

In the very beginning of Dragon Ball Z, they start out with a nice scenery at Gokou's house. Dragon Ball ended when Gokou and Chichi got married and had a son named Gohan(who starts DBZ at around the age of 5 and a half). Gokou and Gohan leave Chichi back at their house when they go off to meet at Kamesennin's (Master Roshi) house for a reunion with Bulma, Oolong, Puar(I have no idea how it's spelled, but it's Yamucha's cat friend), and Kulilin.

Meanwhile, a so called Saiyan arrives with the name of Radditz. He arrives in a Saiyan space pod with an evil eye looking out for a man named Kakarotto. With the use of his scouter he finds a power reading which turns out to be Piccolo's. When they meet, Piccolo tries to beat him, Radditz(with a power of 1200) is way to strong for him. Radditz takes off before finishing off Piccolo when he finds a power +10 higher than that of Piccolo's(a power of around 340). When he finds the source of the power, it is none other than Gokou. Radditz goes into a long speech about how he works for clients along with 2 other saiyans in order to conquer planets and sell them. He tells everyone that Gokou is a Saiyan from the planet Vegita and that the two of them are brothers. He explains that he was sent as a baby to destroy the Earth but he failed. Radditz tells Gokou that his help is needed in fighting off a tough planet and that he wants his brother to join him. Gokou, who is in a state of denial, refects him and tries to fight him off, but just like Piccolo he fails. Radditz takes off with Gohan telling Gokou to eliminate 100 earthlings in a day so that Gokou can get his saiyan blood running in him again or else Gohan would get killed. Kamesennin, knowing a bit more about Gokou's childhood than he himself does, tells him that he did come from a space pod. When he was young he used to be toublesome to his grandpa, who is also named Gohan. Gokou, finally believing that he is a race of the Saiyans, still refuses to accept his Brother's demands. He decides to take off and try again to kill his brother.

Before he takes off, Piccolo joins him. They make their own agreement to help each other out and when the battle is over, they would become enemies once again. Because Piccolo is Gokou's best chance to defeat Radditz he agrees and they take off together. Kamesennin, Bulma, and the others take off a while later in an air car. When Gokou plans to attack for a surprise, Piccolo tells him that the scouter reads power levels as well as location. Gokou's plan for a sneak attack is gone, but he isn't discouraged yet.

Meanwhile, Radditz is chilling out for a while after he locks Gohan up in his space pod. When suddenly his scouter blinks and reads at a power level of 710. He realizes that it points to Gohan, which is amazing because of the fact that Chichi never lets Gohan train. However he tells himself that the scouter is broken and forgets about it. Then when he detects Gokou's and Piccolo's power, he realizes that the scouter was correct, meanin Gohan had an incredible power.

The fight begins, Radditz with the upper hand in speed and strength. During the short breaks inbetween the fights, their only hope is for Piccolo to shoot his beam cannon. As Piccolo powers up, Gokou distracts Radditz for about 5 minutes. However when Piccolo finally shoots his special beam cannon, he misses and hits Radditz's shoulder. Piccolo having to spend another 5 minutes powering up and Gokou on the ground, leaves the team vulnerable until Gohan, out of anger, bursts out of the space pod and attacks Radditz. This gives Gokou enough time to hold Radditz down until Piccolo can shoot Radditz. However this process required the sacrifice of Gokou's life and therefore the two brothers both get killed by Piccolo's blast.

By telling Radditz about the plan to wish Gokou back with the Dragon Balls, Radditz's allies (Vegita and Nappa) here about it because the scouter is also a transmiter. Radditz, knowing that they are one years distance from Earth, tells Piccolo that they will come to destroy the Earth and get the Dragon Balls because they are both at least 8 times stronger than Radditz is. Because of this, Piccolo, still amazed at Gohan's power, takes Gohan with him to train him so he will be able to help them fight the two Saiyans coming. Kulilin, Yamucha, Tenshinhan(Tien, and Chaozu get called to Kamisama's Tenki to undergo special training. When Gokou is informed about the two other saiyans coming, he is on a desperate mission to undergo special training from the legendary Kaiosama(King Kaio). So off everybody goes to train for a year until the two Saiyans arrive.

The Saiyan Saga

The down time starts as everyone is training. A whole bunch of nothing happens in a lot of episodes. Gohan learns to use his powers after a while of living off on his own. But Piccolo, showing reluctant care for Gohan, always watches over him to make sure nothing happens. When Gohan was ready Piccolo commenced Gohan's training. Gohan's power and control over his techniques and abilities grew rapidly. (faster than any other fighter at the time) Most of his power remains hidden however because Gohan's true power comes out of anger. Meaning while the Z warriors are training on Tenkai, and what they're doing is pretty dumb, but it's okay. They just keep fighting each other and Kulilin gets beat by Yagirobi while he's eating. That just proves that Kulilin sucks. But that doesn't mean he's not cool. Anyway they're just doing nothing until Kamisama appears finally and takes them to the a room of time or something. The room takes their minds to another time and so it becomes sort of real for them. Because Kami had sensed a bit of overconfidence among the fighters, he thought it necessary to teach them a lesson. Kulilin, Chauzo, Tien, and Yamucha all agree to participate in this even, while Yagirobi stays behind to eat because he's a dork. No one likes him. The 4 fighters are transported to the past on the planet Vegita only to see a whole bunch of dead Saiyans and other warriors. They meet two Saiyans who survived and get their asses kicked by them. Luckily they weren't really there, only their minds were there. Afterwards, Kamisama explained that the two Saiyans that defeated them weren't even close to the two coming to Earth. It was then that the Z warriors learned that pursuing the defense of Earth was death or retreat, yet none of them back out.

Meanwhile, Gokou up at King Kaiou's planet gets used to the harsh gravity. (10 times Earths gravity as opposed to 400 times Earths gravity which is later on, but oh well. The writers keep things a little more realistic towards the beginning.) Gokou passes the test to catch Bubbles, the monkey, which increases his speed as well as Gregory, the annoying cricket, which increases Gokou's speed and strength. After that the episodes go into an increased time lapse thing and by that time, the Z warriors are ready, Gohan and Piccolo are ready, and Gokou is ready with the Kaio Ken Attack and Genki Dama(spirit bomb).

Back to the two saiyans coming, Vegita and Nappa stop by at different planets and end up destroying everything. That's pretty much what they did the whole time. Finally, many episodes later, and maybe a day or so(in DBZ time, which is like 50 episodes) the Saiyans arrive and search for the ones with the strongest power. Thinking that it's Kakarotto(Gokou) they head in that direction to either persuade him to join them or kill him. However, the power that they sense is Piccolo and Gohan. After a while, they show Gohan and Piccolo, who have already sensed their coming. Before the arrival, Kulilin shows up. As Vegita and Nappa arrive they spawn six green things(forgot what they were called) that sprout up from the ground. These little stupid things each had the fighting power of Radditz. The battle comences between Gohan, Piccolo, and Kulilin and the green warriors. While Kulilin and Piccolo each take on three, Gohan stands there, being like 5 or 6 years old, and is scared stiff. (couldn't blame him) As the battle stops for a while due to talking, which makes up 90% of each episode, finally Tien and Chaozu show up, followed by Yamucha.

The battle begins one on one, like a tournament. Though the Z warriors are anxious to fight, Piccolo thinks that the longer they post poned the fighting of the Saiyans, the better they can hold off until the arrival of Gokou. Tien is the first to start and easily takes down one of the green warriors. Vegita ends up killing him because he was defeated. Next up was Yamucha, who fought really well. A cool battle took place as Piccolo taught Gohan to see with energy rather than to actually see the body. Yamucha beat his opponent, but didn't kill him. However, the defeated foe sprang up and did a suicidal explosion killing both itself and Yamucha. Meanwhile Bulma and the others were sad and crying blah blah blah. That stuff is boring. Back tot eh fighting, Kulilin who was outraged went all out with an awesome energy blast, which killed off 3 of the green warriors. Although he put out everything he had and hit the two saiyans, he didn't even scratch them. A few seconds later the last of the green warriors leaped out behind a rock after Gohan, but Piccolo easily blew him up. Now it is time for Nappa......
