Sharon Stone was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania, and pursued acting throughout her schooling. She won several local beauty pageants and a writing scholarship to Edinboro College, where she majored in creative writing and fine arts. Beginning a modeling career, she was signed by Eileen Ford in New York and went on to represent Clairol, Diet Coke and Revlon. She received a Golden Globe nomination for her performance as Catherine Tramell in Basic Instinct (1992). 1
